Why is Z4 M more expensive than M3?
is it because it's convertible? but M3 convertible is only $5k more and you get a lot more car with it.
i just hope the Z4 M Coupe will be significantly cheaper than the roadster...

then I went to the bathroom and it hit me,
M roadster has more standard equipment, like Xenons and premium audio that are not standard on the M3 this is in addition to it owning the M3 |

Are you talking about the M3 coupe??? The M3 coupe is officially timed at 0.1 seconds faster than the Z4M. The M3 coupe has a wider track to it. I would almost guarantee the M3 coupe has more body stiffness than the Z4M. All of which translates to the M3 being a better track car than the Z4M. I dont know where your pulling this together... |

3-400 pounds lighter with the same power......... we'll need to see what the magazines actually get for 0-60 with the M roadster..... it's a pretty safe bet that BMW's factory claimed #'s are just to protect the "m3's image" |

May be true... but the coupe is not official yet... I was thinking about putting the M3 I6 in my E90. I hear engine swaps are pretty cheap and easy to do... Probably a nice little DIY for a Saturday afternoon... |

M roadster will lay some whoopass down on the M3 coupe
M3 convertible isn't even in the same league (too heavy!!) The Z4 outhandles the M3 already, and the M roadster's been tweaked with all the M3 suspension goodies (front track wider than Z4, non runflat tires, comp pack brakes, hydraulic steering ) M roadster and coupe are the sporty BMW's now.... |

it'll be interesting to see how these cars actually perform once they're out in the real world
My dealer doesn't have an M roady yet, but I plan on driving it when it shows up and I'll report if it's an improvement over the sport pack on the Z4 (which it should be) in the handling dept. I wouldn't be surprised to see both the new M3 and M coupe/roadster in the mid 4 second to 60 range. I bet it'll be closer that most here think |

arent roadsters always more expensive than the regular coupes?? The only thing I can think of, in addition to what you guys have mentioned, is that a lot more goes into building the Z4M than the M3. The materials have to be able to withstand a crash thus I would think it should be stiffer than the M3's body. Since it's a smaller car, driver is way more susceptible to injuries if they dont put extra effort into it.

that's usually the case, most cars are designed as a hardtop and then the convertible is developed later... the Z4, and Boxster were designed to be droptops from the start so I can see how the manufacturers would have to charge a bit more to add the roof. I haven't seen BMW's pricing on the coupes, but if they follow porsches lead the coupe will be a bit more |

Vlad, in Germany the Z4 M Coupe is € 2,000 cheaper (€ 55,900) than Z4 M roadster (€ 57,900).
For comparison: M3 is € 56,900. Z 4 M Coupe is available over here, it's even in the configurator. |

cool, so it is cheaper then. i'm glad because the coupe is the one i really want. i wonder how they're going to price it over here. but considering that a regular 330i (don't know the difference in standard options) costs about the same in Euros as it does in US Dollars, then the Z4 M Coupe should also be around the same price. but on the other side, Z4 M Roadster in the states starts at $51k which is significantly less than €57k in Europe...

If memory serves me right, the Z4M was being compared with the Cayman-S in a video. I believe it was Jeremy (not sure about this).
