Paul Walkers BMW
Had a chance to make it over to Barrett Jackson this week and they were auctioning off 21 of Paul Walkers cars from his personal collection. They had his M3 fleet there and was able to grab some pictures...I definitely need an e36 in my life.

So was I. Having his name attached was more valuable than I thought.

Not a problem. Wish I would've taken more but we were limited on time. Next time.

Wow! $350,000 - err.....for one car? Really ? Have to wonder if there was some 'shill bidding' going on ??
That final number seems egregiously HIGH - is there implied collector value because Paul owned it? 4600 miles is very low, basically a time capsule, but dang - anyone know if that's the highest ever paid for an E30 ///M3 ? Cheers, Merlin

Obviously the name Paul Walker upped the price.
While the E36's are limited edition LTW's, they don't have any parts that are special in the way, you could buy them at the dealer and add yourself. Only the cloth pattern on the seats is unique to this car. Not even zero milage EU spec M3's go near this kind of money. My 2c.

Yes, the celebrity owner upped the price, but to say the LTW;s aren't special because one could get the parts at a dealer and add yourself? WOW that is just ignorant. LTW's were a limited edition car made by BMW Individual. If you did what you suggest you have a Replica not an original. There was a nice story last year on the LTW,s how they came to be in the BMW CCA Roundel. Good luck getting all the sound deadening removed and don't forget to get the AC removed and all the corresponding parts. Yes a form of replica is possible, but the point is collectible cars are not just a sum of the parts, it's the history, story and rarity which make them collectible. And if you add a significant owner that adds to the story. my .02 Last edited by Wiles; 01-27-2020 at 03:25 PM.. |

I think the e36 M3 is the most under-appreciated and underrated BMW ///M car of all time.
I owned my e36 M3/4/5 and e46 M3 at the same time. So I actually got to drive them back to back, daily. You wouldn't believe just how capable the e36 M3 was. Around town, it actually felt snappier and faster than my e46 M3. Down low, the torque felt more immediate and ready to use, whereas I always had to wind-up the hell out of the e46 M3 to be "effective". Not to mention the e36 M3 felt like a go-cart. I always needed a few minutes to adjust because going from the 36 M to 46 M felt like I was driving a boat. Sure, the e46 M3 was much faster overall, but the e36 M3 was simply more fun in all aspects. With a dedicated set of snows, the e36 M felt incredibly balanced and controllable. Having never driven an LTW, I can only imagine how snappy and balanced it must be. |

A stock curb weight of only 2,950 lbs is unique enough in my book. That alone makes it somewhat "special". Sometimes, less is more. They reduced the weight drastically while maintaining a civil everyday street car look and feel. Sure, no AC is a compromise, but not everyone lives in climates hot enough to miss it. |

Met a guy who had a "Pristine" red e36 Gods honest truth I was more excited to see that car than my f80 It's the car that set my dreams of owning an icon like the M3 The gold standard I'd love to have an e36 the same way you'd want a classic rare painting |

Please don’t take my comment out of context.
It is still a special edition E36. And I do like them. Let me rephrase: the EU M3 GT, of which the LTW is the US version, is better spec’d, but won’t even see 100k for an absolute minter. So to see this fetch multiple hundred k, is beyond me. So makes we wonder what exactly the “PW premium” is. But I guess that hard to tell. |

I'm shocked that having his name attached to a collection upped the price like this. 100% sure this was a charity auction and people were thinking with their hearts for his family.
I don't understand the obsession with F&F or walker but damn that's a nice collection. |
