It's the details that make all these concept cars look good. The stance, the tiny mirrors, the non-compliant bumpers, the solid black windows, the ultra low splitters, etc. Once all that's changed it'll look like ass like all the rest.

Also it either looks too small to fit a normal person in there, or those doors are huge.
(but otherwise it looks nice, better than the 'contemporary' japanese styling like the current supra etc)

Reminds me of a GTR. I wouldn't mind Mitsu releasing a new sports car, still have my 4g63t Mighty Max that's a blast to drive

Have you seen the new Z4s? They're about as big as a 2014 6 series.

The worst thing about buying an Evo was having to go to Mitsubishi dealerships.

It came with two or three free oil changes. There was zero chance I was letting their mechanics near my car, so I had them give me the oil & filters to do it myself.

In the top pic of the white version, you can actually see a little of the same lines from the 1st gen VR4. It looks like most modern cars to me unfortunately though. I still prefer the originals (hence the forum name....I had a couple of them haha)

I doubt itll happen. Mits lost their way a long time ago. Dropping the evo and neutering the eclipse was a bad move.

Based on their revival of the Eclipse - it'll probably end up being a FWD, 4cyl SUV with a CVT transmission.

Sigh.

How is Mitsubishi still in business?

Yeah......it seems like everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon of bringing back a platform that they had success with in the past.

I will say that my mother in law has a Outlander Sport that she has beat the crap out of for almost 150K miles in mountain terrain....and for as cheap as it was.....It's held up pretty well.

Still gives her 30mph on average as well.

I hope mitsubishi brings something awesome back after that horrendous excuse for an eclipse and axing the evo

Look at the concept Supra, then look at the piece of shit we really got. It's impossible to get excited over concept photos.

I owned a 1995 3000GT VR4 way back in the day, I was probably one of the few people who owned it trouble free for a number of years and actually enjoyed the ownership. It was a kickass car in the mid-late 90s with all the weird tech.

Then I got a MKIV Supra TT and saw the difference lol. 3000GT what?

I've always had a soft spot for Mitsubishi as some of the most fun I had with automobiles was in my DSM days. It's a shame they have become such a rudderless ship as they were responsible for some of the more interesting cars in the 80's and 90's (Starion, DSM, FTO, Galant VR4, EVO, 3000GT, etc). I would love to see them bring back this car but I would rather they start off with a more affordable sporty car like the Eclipse (the DSM version not the ones after) as this vehicle I imagine would be in Supra territory and I just don't see people wanting to spend that much $$ on a Mitsubishi in this day and age.

Haha, this will never happen. Mitsubishi can't even make competitive econoboxes anymore. They'll pull out of the US market before building a new GTO. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.

It's ugly anyways. Long live the Japanese giants of the 90s. Being a Japanese sports car enthusiast myself, I realized a few years ago the only way to get anything close to a modern interpretation of those great cars is to buy German. M3/4 for the Supra, RS5 for the VR4, 440i with AWD+manual for the R34. None quite hit the mark, but are leagues ahead of the contemporary Japanese offerings for those who are looking for a specific experience.

I suppose the upcoming 400Z is close enough to a 300ZX successor, but the R35 wasn't exactly what I was looking for in a R34 successor, no matter how capable they are. Still waiting on Mazda to make a move on an RX-7 revival, but if they can't even pull off a Speed3 with the CX-9 engine, then I won't hold my breath.

No it's not, the F12 6 series is 4894mm long, the new G29 z4 is 4324 mm long. (I'm comparing both convertables here)
I believe that's about 2 feet difference? (there's also roughly half a tonne weight difference )
(and if you mean the 2004 6 series (e64), it's about the same, it's lenght is 4820mm so only 3" shorter than the 2011-2016 model

The new Z4 series is however a lot wider than the previous one.
In fact, the lenght/width ratio is about the same as the first z4, giving it a 'butch' appearance. When the 2nd z4 came out (e89) it grew about 6" in lenght but not in width, making it look more like a long car instead of a short, wide sportscar. Now that ratio is restored.
Bear in mind that the wheelbase hardly changed with the z4, so it's all in overhang on bumper/boot.

I'll believe it when I see it. Mitsu used to have some fantastic performance cars---and at one point, it seemed like the company had a performance version of every car they made. Now? Total garbage cars. They seem to be of the mindset of how they can spend the absolute least on consumer vehicles and still keep the lights on. The company is such a disgrace at this point. Part of me is rooting for them to go out of business or at least leave the US and focus on other markets.
