Posting this in case this happens to someone else.

2022 m240i

Got in my car today and realized none of the audio was working. Even the bloody turn signals weren't producing a sound (kind of nice, actually). Anyway, I restarted the car and still nothing. No Spotify, podcasts or XM. When turning the volume dial I get a prompt that says, "no audio source available".

Solution: Hold the volume dial down for 20-30 seconds which will reset the iDrive system. The entire system will go black including your digital cockpit. Once it comes back on you should be good to go!

Hope this helps someone later down the road!

Thanks for the tip! I've never had that happen to any of our Drive cars since 2012.

Happened again today. So I've realized this happens when my vehicle starts and the driver assist capabilities are limited (Reduced Driver Assist warning). Meaning, some of the assist features are not functional for some reason. The drive assist button will be lit up with an ORANGE circle.

Once the vehicle is able to resolve the issues, and the button lights up GREEN, the audio issues go away.

Seems like an iDrive glitch which can be resolved with an update.

I would try a hard reset. Hold volume knob in for 70 seconds, set a timer on your phone. This can be done while parked or driving, screen will go black twice. This fixes a ton of issues. Then update apps and services. Could help.

Thanks for the tip! I will def try that if the issue comes back. From what I've read the Reduced Driver Assist issue seems to be a common one across bmw.

Update: Started up the car after it sat for a few days and got the Driver Assistance Restricted (button lit up orange). No audio again as a result.

Drove for about 10-15 mins and the Driver Assistance resolved itself (button lit up green), and the audio came back.

Driver Assistance Restriction is not an issue for me as it usually just resolves itself but no audio is a major issue.

Service scheduled for Monday 12/27.

Found someone on YT having the exact same issues. Based on comments looks like it's an issue with The Receiver Audio Module (RAM), which needed to be replaced.

Isn't the RAM also the part that is holding a lot of cars up at the factory? I wonder what kind of supply they have for the dealer base for repairs?

I wonder if those affected have Satellite Radio Delete, which means a different RAM Module, could be at the root of it.

Yeah that's what I heard was the hold up. I wonder if they can even repair it, the part is in backorder for so long

Update: Dealer updated the software. Apparently this software update fixes a lot of issues including a recall.

I didnt have an update on the app and according to the dealer it's not something I can do at home. So far so good.

That is correct. RAM is what has 90% of the cars coming from Europe on stop sale.
