Which Fuse to Reset Connected Drive
Hello again,
Can anyone tell me what fuse I would pull to kill the connected drive to try and totally reset the system? Mine is beyond awful and do not have a dealer within 3 hours of me. Just trying to possibly get it to work and save myself 6 hours drive time. I cannot even add the car back to myBMW as I do not even have the messages app to receive the security code and not that this is some secret but MY GOD the BMW Genius line is a complete waste of time. Thank you in advance |

Have you tried to disconnect and reconnect the battery? The old power it off and back on again!

I feel like it has been off since I received the car. MyBMW app never worked for remote starting etc and I thought it would be a last ditch effort to get the system back on track. I have read it has worked for some and since it is what I believe to be completely related to connected services and it’s connection that does not seem to be there from BMW assist weather or anything else. It seemed to work every now and then in terms of updating weather but with the last reset within iDrive now nothing works. |

I am happy to report leaving the battery disconnected with positive and negative cables attached with a metal pipe has solved my issues. Left it that way for a good 45 minutes if anyone else is having a issue like mine.
I was able to update apps and services for the first time since I had bought the car a couple weeks ago. Apps are back and so far everything is working like I would have expected from the start. By the way BMW genius should not even exist, it is a complete joke and should be ashamed that’s the level of intelligence we are able to have access to. I also understand that there are different levels of abilities out there but for gods sake it was a fairly simple one. Saved me 6 hours in the car and possibly being without it for a few days. |

That's good news. As you say it's saved you 6+ hours, I suppose the genius role has limited knowledge & would always recommend to return to dealer as a safe option. Happy safe motoring.

For simple stuff like this I really do try to avoid dealers at all costs as it always turns into a huge production and usually having to leave the vehicle. |

Could you explain a bit more why you had the positive and negative cables attached to a pipe while the battery was disconnected?
Curious?

It's how you full discharge a vehicle. Even with the battery cables disconnected, you have modules that can remain powered via capacitors that still contain energy. This forces all modules to completely drain of voltage.

Well I take all of it back. Worked perfectly for less than 24 hours but now has lost all connection with BMW.
Funny how my Chrysler Pacifica worked perfectly from day one and this has not worked from day one. |
