Oh, hell yes. Heading to the TV, now. I gotta watch this on 85"s. That's what she says, anyway.

I still wonder why the braking feels so underpowered when this is the same brake setup from the M340i probably? Is that a complaint on that model also? I wonder if they have a different brake pad than the M340i or different compound?

Coming from an 2020 M340i and now driving a 2022 M240i, I can tell you that the brakes on the latter are NOT the same as in the 340 and definitely have less bite. It almost feels as if you need to press the brakes harder and deeper to stop the car or just to engage the auto hold braking system. Brakes have been my only let down on this otherwise fantastic car. Now I'm seriously thinking of upgrading the brakes, something I have never done on any on of my previous bmw cars.

Instrumented testing by Car and Driver shows the M240i’s braking performance to be essentially identical to that of the M340i. It may just be a brake pedal “feel” or calibration issue.

Very positive review. It’s in line with my view that the G42 M240i trounces the outgoing model and will yield some of the highest owner satisfaction ratings of any car BMW makes, despite not being the most luxurious or fastest. It is a great BMW coupe, priced right and properly usable both on the commute and the backroads. I love mine.

Nicely spec'd M240i in Thundernight with Cognac sport seats. Enjoyed the reviewers enthusiasm and excitement of the car. Had a similar sentiment when I test drove the car, it is much the same as a M340 albeit in a smaller body - how can you go wrong. The brakes are identical to the standard M340i brakes, not great.

Saw one of these on the highway today, same colour. On a dark colour that disguises the front end styling, in my rear view mirror the DRLs make this look like the 2019+ Camaro. That's not a good thing!

Couldn’t agree more on the overall review especially the brakes which I agree are the worst part of the car. My wife drove my car and really liked it but said “whats up with the brakes” and she drives a Acura RDX. The pedal does not inspire confidence lots of mush before they bite.

Since the discs and pads and calipers aren't the issue, that suggests that it's the master cylinder or perhaps the pivot point on the brake pedal itself that is causing people to feel like the brake pedal travel is perhaps a little long or mushy.

Collecting data points: do you have the tire and cooling package on your M240?

A common way for car manufacturers to fill the braking system is to use a machine that draws a vacuum in the system, deposits a calculated amount of fluid into the reservoir, then releases the vacuum and allows the fluid to be drawn in to fill the evacuated space.

This works very well but cannot get the system 100% full; there will always be a minute amount of air left at the extremes.

If the symptom is a mushy pedal or a pedal with too much free travel at the top, I would consider taking the car to the dealer and asking that a full brake system bleed be done.

I just had a Kia Forte rental for a work trip and although the car was generally terrible, the one thing that stuck out was how responsive the brakes were right at the tippy-top of the pedal travel. Not the firmest pedal (to be expected), but immediate response to the point where it took some practice to disengage the cruise control without having the brakes engage. About the only thing in that car that inspired any positive feeling was the brakes.

If Kia can somehow do this I'm not sure why BMW can't? I'm thinking the assembly plant may be getting something wrong here.

He says it's better than the Supra. Coming from an A90, I'd agree that's true for me. Yes, lots of differences, but I agree true for many.

To be clear, I've only ever gone on a (extended) test drive in the new M240i.

I also came from 2020 M340i, but didn't notice any difference in breaking.

I'm 4 days into ownership of the 240. The brakes feel fine to me. Maybe once i'm out of the break in and start driving it a little faster I'll change my mind-but so far they're fine.

They feel fine to me too. I was over the break-in period the day I drove off the dealer lot.

I’ve had my M240i about 3-weeks now and the brakes actually feel slightly grabbier than my 2019 330i xdrive. I haven’t noticed any excessive softness whatsoever.

Love the cognac leather with Thundernight, if only we had that option in Canada instead of sensatec.
