anyone considering removing rear badging from car?

I've considered removing the X drive and M240i badges of the back of the car.. my thinking is that it will just look cleaner... my car is Black Sapphire Metallic, with extended shadowline.. so having the chrome bits on the back might be distracting...

I know i've seen BMWs in my area that don't list the model on them... have others seen this? is there risk to the paint removing them?

I've done it on my last two cars just for how clean it makes the rear end look. With this one though, I was thinking of doing gloss black badging to match the shadowline accents.

I'm going to see if I can find a gun metal color, I don't think I want black, but I want darker than stock. My car will be BG with shadowline

Not sure. Was actually thinking of adding the m logo to the sides. Seems like US only market without. Maybe not a good idea though

Gonna remove the xdrive and keep the other, possibly changing it to black.

I debadged the rear of my car over the weekend. It's a habit I've had for a long time, I do this to all my cars as it just gives off a much cleaner look.

Here are some pics!

That cleans up the back so much, it's insane. I planned to ditch the xDrive badge anyway but, now I can see taking both badges off is the way to go.

That, and eventually getting the CF spoiler installed

Funny thing is, I started by just removing the xDrive. Took a step back, looked at the car and was like "Ok now the 240i and keep the ///M"

Removed the 240i, took another step back.. "Alright, M has to go also"

I LOVE the clean behind. I kept the fender ///M logos however, haven't decided if I want to remove those. I think they'll stay on.

Definitely the way to go imo!

I'm having the car tinted, PPF coated, and debadged before I even take it home. No one needs to know what's under the hood. Kind of...extra snobby in a non snobby way.

It's crazy that the only visual difference is the little trunk lid spoiler on the 240? 230 doesn't need that hood bulge, or big brakes (I sound like an M owner complaining that the 240 has M mirrors)

I removed the xdrive emblem. But I still have a very faint raised outline of the emblem. It is etched into the paint. Can't really see it looking casually, but if you look very close it is observable. I followed the proper process, but this was the out come. For anyone that has done this, is your emblem faintly observable up close?

Did you try some rubbing compound or polish?

Not even in the slightest on mine.
Care to share a pic? Might be able to help.

Without seeing anything yet though, I suspect this is normal for now. There could be quite a bit of compound left behind when removing the emblem, and it could be tricky to remove it all properly. You start to walk a fine line of "am I going to damage my paint" while doing this, but you won't.

My process after removing the emblem is:
1. Remove all excess compound by hand. Always pull away from glue (opposite direction from where it's peeling)
2. Spray some googone on whatever compound is left. You can also spray some on a microfiber cloth, and apply it onto the area for a few minutes.
Once applied, rub the compound gently, but with pressure. Do this with the dry side of the microfiber cloth (to help loosen the compound), once you see it start to move around, use the wet side again to help wipe off.
3. Once clear of glue. Get dry cleaning spray, apply it to area that had compound/googone and clean thoroughly.

Hopefully that helps!
