Buyers beware - BMWpartsPro

Hey guys, just wanted to share my experience with BMWPartsPro. I recently ordered 2 small parts that were not in stock. They said they had a shipment on the way, and expected them in about 1 month. I decided to go another route and a couple days after placing my order emailed and asked for a cancellation and refund. They refunded the order but charged me $30 for a $120 order due to "cancellation". I emailed back and asked for an exception since these parts were not specifically ordered when I placed an order, they were already on order anyway. The fee is basically being charged for no reason other than the profit off customers even when no services or parts are supplied. They responded and said they always charge this fee, no matter what.

I would completely understand if they had had to order the parts when I placed an order, but they didn't. Nothing changed when I placed or cancelled my order. I fully planned to order more items from them down the road, but after this, it's obvious that going with one of the better vendors is a better choice.

For what it's worth, IND was able to provide the parts I wanted (in stock) for about the same price and they provided excellent customer service. When it comes time for you guys to order parts, I'd think twice before giving your business to BMWPartsPro.

Thank you, good to know. They won't get my business!

I would be upset also!

Basically they have a 25% cancellation fee. Is there anything on their website that states this?

That's a shame. I refuse to do business with companies that sell stuff that they don't have, then charge a fee when you try to cancel.

The last company that did that to me got a call from AMEX and ended up sending me all of my money back. They were trying to charge me $180 restocking fee for something they didn't have in stock that I paid $600 for.

Try to contact your credit card company and see if they'll help you out. AMEX is the best for that.

Thanks for the heads up. I've had great luck with getbmwparts.

Agreed. Predatory policies like this are a great way to lose business.

I already opened a case. After checking everything out I noticed that I paid $123, and was charged a 30 fee. But they only refunded 90. Still missing $3 even by their logic. Absolute trash company.

I have ordered from Getbmwparts before and they were great.

Isn't BMWPartsPros basically Steve Thomas BMW who advertise here and offer cars to forum members at a discount?

Per their website :

Cancellation Policy

If you would like to cancel an order before the item is shipped, it will be a 30% fee PER item before a refund is processed.

I'm sure you agreed to the terms before ordering. Not their fault you decided to cancel.

If that is their policy, then if it does not mention in stock vs out of stock item, that's your ticket home.

Call company again and try to resolve the issue, if you can't resolve it, then call your credit card company and dispute the charges. Make sure you tell your credit card company that you tried (twice) to resolve the issues with the business before disputing the charges.

"Cancellation Policy

Processing fee is also non-refundable.
Once the item is shipped and on the way to your location, order can not be canceled."

I can see them charging that 30% fee if they had specifically order the part just for you, but if it's something they generally stock and was not a special order, then they should not charge you that fee.

While true and buyer beware, this is still a horrible policy. Enough that I'm crossing them off my list. Plenty of other sites/dealers have far more forgiving policies for the same price.

Sadly it's definitely true. I will gladly provide email screenshots if anyone doubts the validity. Hate to see that kind of crap over $30.

Unfortunately that is who I'm dealing with. Weird part is that I paid $123, and her first email said a $123 refund was in process. Then a second email came through stating only 90 would be refunded as they charge $30 for cancellations. Where did the other $3 go? This is just a sleezy way for a company to money grab and lose customers. You hate to see it.

It's an out of stock item that they had already ordered a batch of. They are out NOTHING by me cancelling. I have opened a case to dispute this. I reached out to them to ask for them to look at the situation again, and they refused. Hopefully I get my money back, and worst case scenario is that multiple people learn from my situation and shop elsewhere.

They said they charge $30 per ITEM. But this item isn't even in stock, so there is no reason to charge the $30 in this case. They just seem like a sleezy company.

Yes, they are a vender here, which is why I decided to give them a try. I'm regretting that now. It's the main reason I decided to post this here too. I don't want other people making the same mistake. I'm disputing with my card company now.

Thanks for posting, they will not get business from me. Cancelling before something ships should have no penalty, it's criminal to take money from people for this. It's their decision to post stuff for sale that they don't have, they should own the fact they are on the hook for stuff they order from vendors based on customer orders.

Wait - are you saying that getbmwparts and bmwpartspro is the same company? Or oddly the same named person at both?

Brit is from BMWPartsPro, I know for a fact, because she's signing all the emails from them. Getbmwparts is a different company as far as I know, and Brit is not affiliated (that I know of). When I bought from both, they show as different venders on my card statement.
