M240i Dinan vs MST Intake

I’m looking to get an intake, but I’m torn between Dinan and MST. Dinan seems better quality and nicer with the carbon air box, but the MST seems to be louder? Is the MST actually louder?

Can anyone give some insight?

I have the dinan looks so nice the mst looks kinda of cheap to me as for sound both are pretty much the same in design I noticed some guys don’t use the top cover that will definetly make it a little louder I have personally not tried it because the dinan cover is so sexy,if I had a mst I would probably run it no cover because I think the cover looks cheap anyways, but with both being so close in price I feel like your getting more with the dinan

Good insight! Thank you for the comment. I agree that the Dinan looks like a better bang for the same buck.

I appreciate the input! Do you know which is louder in regards to induction noise?

MST is louder since its an open intake.

If you are looking for a loud intake, consider the Injen.
Its the loudest.

I prefer MST and you can also get the clear heat shield so that you can see inside the air box and see the intake. It looks really cool and I prefer it open to the Carbon fiber closed look. But it’s on preference!

+1 their sound is very similar, and the build quality is similar.

The carbon fiber is the deciding factor, in my opinion.

The carbon really does look amazing. Add a carbon fiber engine cover and cooling shroud and its amazing looking.

And if the performance is most important thing which one should I choose?
I would like to have some heat shield and better air flow. Regarding the sound maybe just little bit deeper bass but not much louder. My previous car had a custom exhaust and was very loud and had a great sound. Right now I enjoy the quiet ride.

It’s splitting hairs. You will feel zero difference between the two.

The dinan will resist heat much better as it doesn’t use a metal pipe like mst. But even then it’s not going to make enough of a difference to increase power. The turbo is heating up the air a crazy amount so it wouldn’t matter at all if one intake is 5 degrees cooler than the other.

I’ve had both intakes and like the dinan better.

Performance is the same between the two brands.

Is price a relevant factor here? My Eventuri sounds pretty crazy.

I believe the Dinan is louder than Eventuri. It’s a semi open design while the Eventuri is enclosed like stock. My Dinan sounds louder at all rpm ranges compared to the Eventuri YouTube video.

Yes, the Dinan intakes is heard at every rpm. I don’t think I ever heard the stock intake.

I put the Dinan intake on my wifes m240 months ago and I and she especially loves it. Quality is top notch also and definitely louder than stock one.

Not like my G80 intake but it gets the job done

Which intake do you have on the G80?
