Weight Weenies
I know we have a thread about 1st mod, and wheels, but I was wanting to create a thread for all weight related mods.
Is the cf package absolutely on everyone's list that is trying to drop weight or is that $ better spent elsewhere? I personally don't care for the look of CF and like a sunroof, but I'm considering adding the cf package because I love the bucket seats and for the undeniable weight reduction. What's the best bang for the buck weight reductions you guys are finding. Forged wheels and battery are obvious low hanging fruit. Does the mp exhaust drop any weight? Let's keep it fun and informative. |

it all adds up.
its going to be very hard to replicate the carbon seats and cf roof without paying a ton of money aftermarket, so definitely check that box. forged wheels and battery will help alot like you said. the wheels definitely with unsprung mass.cf hood and trunk may eventually come out with the CS (not sure if there is an MP version). aftermarket or MP exhaust will definitely help. rear seat delete carbon ceramics from the g82

Lithium battery = - 38 lbs
Apex Wheels = - 16 to 20 lbs 6MT = - 48 lbs versus the ZF auto Carbon Roof = - 13 lbs Haven't decided on the seats yet. A few reviews mentioned that they interfere with shifting with the 6MT. |

I had VIS Racing aftermarket cf hood and decklid on a previous car, was a lot of stress on them with the hydraulics with opening and closing (and the gaps were never perfect). |

The weight really needs to come from the front of the car first IMO as it sits 52/48 stock.
Tomorrow I'm going on scales to find out true corner and curb weights. I don't think the seats are a must personally as the bulk of their weight sits about floor level and center line. Therefore wheels, a strut brace, anything on front bumper area and hood are my first choices. They also don't void warranties so weight savings are more important to me than tunes and pipes, etc. |

I'm starting with forged wheels, but I'm also not counting grams. I intend on weighing the wheels before mounting.

Yeah it's a title about weight savings. It's a joke about bikes kinda, guys that have to drop every ounce possible from their bicycle have whole forums, not just threads, called "weight Weenies".
