G87 Owners w/ Live Cockpit Pro + HUD
What are your initial impressions? Do you feel that it is worth $1100?
Edit, Let me clarify that I, myself experience HUD daily in various BMW models. The question was intended to serve G87 buyers that maybe on the fence about HUD. Last edited by T_U_D; 04-10-2023 at 08:47 AM.. |

100% worth it. The graphics are great and high resolution. It displays everything you need and the sport mode graphic is very handy
Two thumbs up from me. |

This was my the decision I struggled with most. Ultimately I decided to go with it. I’m sure at times I’ll turn it off but other times it’ll be useful. It also gives the interior a more premium look. Another reason, about 75% are equipped with it, didn’t want that to hurt me down the line in terms of resale value.

I originally didn't spec it. I'm glad that deal fell through and my HEA comes with it.

Now that I have it, I want it in my other vehicles. Very well done. Very clear, and a very short glance and you see the vitals. I would highly recommend it. Polarized sunglasses does not impact the view. Not distracting at night.

I've never owned a car with HUD and am leaning against it, but by definition I'm the ignorant one on this issue so I had a question for all you experienced HUDers . . .
To me, the most appealing promise of HUD is the ability to "not take your eyes off the road," but does it actually deliver that benefit? We can only direct our gaze at one thing at a time. If we're looking at data, whether it's the digital instrument cluster or a HUD, aren't we necessarily removing our focus from the road in both cases, anyway? |

The HUD is 100% worth it in this car, my current car doesn’t have it and I wasn’t going to option it again but driving the HEA unit made me add it to my spec. It’s super clear, provides a great tachometer view, and the navigation display makes it even better. Now for the allocation wait…

I agree, looking at the dash maybe takes away 20% of my attention away from the road, the HUD is maybe 5%. It's a more passive way to get the info and I look through it to the road instead of at it. I haven't driven a bmw manual since my 95 m3 so I'm curious about these shift lights in the HUD.

The HUD system is a quintessential part of this cars technology package. Between the ambient lighting, light M color door cards, giant screen and cool graphics, it seriously feels like a fighter jet. When my mom got in the car she said exactly that.

I bet, for the first week my wife will know I'm in the garage just sitting in the car. I will probably be "adjusting the settings" or "loading music". I'm actually curious what bimmercodes comes out with for id8 customisations. That will give me more time to just sit in the car and soak it in.
