M2 auto Transmission Oil Cooler

Can anyone with auto confirm if the M2 has the gearbox oil cooler in the front like thw M3/M4?

From youtube videos I did not see it, but they are not very clear on the front radiators.

It should look like this

So from a cooling package perspective we are getting 100% of the cooling as featured on the M3/M4 Competition Auto models?

Thanks. Fantastic that BMW didn’t offer a cut down power plant hardware. This means a ton of headroom for tuning.

Yes this is a big difference from the OG M2. We get the full M S58 powertrain, and as we have seen, the "detune" was taken in the torque curve.

If doing true tuning (ie ecu tune and not piggyback), I would recommend an aftermarket and upgraded heat exchanger.

Unless going for a lot of power (north of 650hp), stock cooling should be plenty enough.

Personally thinking about a downpipe/OPF Delete with a conservative but linear tune to about 600hp, and I can call it a day. Should be awesome!

I, personally, want the benefit of increased torque more than the crazy hp from the tune. I am good with 550-600 torque and 500-600 hp. A tune to 600hp would be borderline stage 2 which you would want, or benefit, from the heat exchanger and colder plugs.

Most Stage 1 tunes for G80/G82 is about 600 at the crank which should be plenty enough for me.

I’m sure the heat exchanger and colder plugs will certainly help, but I’m not sure they are a must have unless you are at about 650+ crank on Stage 2. But let’s see how it goes, I might go down this path after

On your preference of more torque, I’m actually on the other end, since this a RWD car, overwhelming torque too early will make it a lot more trickier to manage on track. I would rather a smoother curve that builds power and peaks near redline. Encouraging ringing the car out more.

Peaky tunes are not my thing.

Understood...mine will be a daily so my power wants are "stop light to stop light" wherein its more about the torque.

Regardless of whether you can see it in the video, the answer is still yes.

Having already put our car on a race track, I can confirm, it's pretty twitchy in the corners and you will want a really smooth torque curve, the suspension is not yet done and new brakes are also on the way. This was running in. Also, yes 18" wheels fit.
