I'm struggling.
I'm really struggling with the idea of the pzeros on my car. I don't know why I have such a strong bias against them. Maybe it's because I'm a Michelin fan boi?
I'm seriously considering wasting the money to replace them immediately, especially since I have new wheels coming. Just have them mounted to the new wheels and swaparoo. The struggle is real. #firstworldproblem

Pirelli, like Michelin, manufactures tires specifically for BMW to their "Star BMW" spec.
Tyre Reviews did a video "This Is Why You Should Fit OE Tires To Your Car!" which compared the Michelin PS4S "Star BMW" tire to the standard Michelin PS4S. The results were clear, the PS4S* designed specifically for BMW outperformed the standard PS4S in every test. Anyone can go to TireRack and see that the off-the-shelf version of the PS4S outperforms the off-the-shelf version of the PZero, what I'm curious about is a direct comparison between the "Star BMW" version of the PZero vs the "Star BMW" PS4S. It seems like BMW would want the performance to be as close to identical as possible, has anyone found an actual head-to-head comparison? Last edited by Mike_H_; 05-03-2023 at 02:22 PM.. I've been wondering that myself. I also assume they're going to be very similar.

I had Michelin PS4S' on my M3, I removed them after 1,000 miles because I was not a fan. I've had 3 sets on various M cars. While the grip was nice, I just didn't like the steering feel. Imagine telling my wife, i'm changing out tires on my new car after a few weeks! She understood though. I actually went with Yokohama Advan Apex V601s. I just like the steering feel better than the Michelins. Tires are very subjective in regards to feel, so YMMV. |

I just got out of my car and my front rims are nearly brown. Most people don't really notice but man it is a capital B

JustinHEMI, you can look at this another way. Keep the Pirelli's until the MPS5S come out next year. Until then you have a year or so to beat the F'n hell out of the pzero's.

I would keep the tires until at least the 1200 break in. You're not going to feel any difference regardless as you're not going to really push the car.

That's going to happen anyways as the new wheels won't be here until sometime in June. If I get my car back from PPF guy sometime next week, I intend on killing the breakin mikes Friday-Sunday.

Here's a thought - use the pzeros with the drift analyzer to perfect your drifting skills. Then get the ps4s's

I am in the same boat and have never really had a good experience with Pirelli P-Zeros on previous cars. They always have peaky grip levels and are very slidy past the limit. I much prefer a more linear level of traction such as a Continental dw sport, or whatever it's called now, or an RT660 if going 200tw which I've also thought about doing even if I get the ps4s*.

I have gotten factory OEM P Zeros on new Porsches and they were fine. They don’t last long, maybe 15,000 miles. I’d just stick with them since they won’t last long anyway then replace them with Michelins (my choice too).
I think the biggest difference in the two tires is that the Pirelli is definitely a noisier tire and since it doesn’t last long starts to lose grip a lot earlier in it’s life. |

I hate Pirellis as much as anyone else, but if my car gets them, I plan on wearing them out entirely in 4-5 months before moving onto something else - whether winter or A/S since I'm in Colorado, before moving to Michelin summer tires in 2024.
