I can't visualize what kind of curb would rash the fronts, miss the skirts, and also somehow do damage up in the spoke area of the rears. Was someone joyriding perhaps, and going lateral?
Because normally if you have damage on BOTH fronts and rears, you are coming in at a shallow angle. A curb would rash your rims sure, but the tires will lift your car onto the curb before the spokes are obliterated. |

From my understanding lost the rear end came around both wheels met the curb and went over the median.

It probably was a demo car. Looks to me that it took a big hit to a curb. Front wheels has curb rash.
