What ECU/DME are compatible with G42? (Femto Cloning)
Hey everyone,
I've been having a hard time finding any information on part numbers, etc. for ECUs that are compatible with the 2023 G42 m240. I suppose if I were fine just getting any old G42 ECU, or just straight doing a normal femto unlock this would be easier. Due to hearing about the possibility of throwing in a pre June 2020 ECU into the car that could be bench unlocked if it accidentally got locked up again, has me thinking about trying to use a F22/23 DME for the cloning process. I've managed to locate a (F23) ECU from a 2017 M240 with OE listed part numbers (12148664545, 12148692964). Based on what I've seen online it looks like all ECUs from 2016-2020 are the same. I've heard that pre 2020 ECUs are dwindling, so either though I planning on driving the car stock for at least the break-in period, I'm thinking of just getting this now before they're all gone. Think this would work for FEMTO cloning? |

This one won't work at all due to a different CPU architecture.
Old engines are different, you can check this for a better understanding: https://www.bimmerworld.com/About-Us...U-Differences/ |

Thanks, this is good stuff. Based on what I'm reading here there are a bunch of technical revisions in-between, seems like a pre-june 2020 ecu is basically impossible with all the design, battery, etc. Differences.
Seems I'd have to source a donor ecu post 2020, if I even went that route. Quote:
