If I couldn't get the 128i...
If I couldn't get the 128i, I would either get the Altima Coupe or the Mazda RX8. Which one would you choose between, the RX8 or Altima Coupe? I WANT TO KNOW WHY!! If you would choose the RX8, what do you think about the ROtary Engine, good or bad?

I would go with a MX-5. I realize that it's not a choice, but humor me. I want a small RWD car for the weekends and I have the same issues with the RX-8 as atr_hugo.

Do you want RWD or FWD? If you don't care then get the Altima.

Wow, you're having an awfully hard time staying focused on this BMW thing 128er. But to answer your question, and Altima coupe is a new modern fresh design and it just plain looks good. The RX8 is very long in the tooth and never was any kind of a good looker. I don't give a rats ass about how fast an RX-8 is or how well an RX-8 handles, looks are just as important. There's plenty of ugly chicks that will give you an awsome blowjob and pay your way on a date, but do you really want to be with a ugly chick? Same holds true for the RX-8.
The Asians just need to suck it up and outsource the design/aesthetics end to people who have taste...like Pinninfarina or Karmann. There's gotta be some sort of genetic deficiency in the Japenese mindset that simply causes them to relentlessly build ugly, fat, out-of-proportion, childish looking cars. |

Nothing well said about it at all. The Altima Coupe is a nose heavy pig of a car. The RX-8 is a nimble and worthy driving companion.
Have you seen the Altima Coupe in person? They're as plain vanilla as it gets. A secretary in my building drives one and that's exactly what the Altima Coupe is: a secretary's car. The only nice thing about them is the rear fenders that look sorta like a G37 Coupe. But if you like those lines, you might as well get the real deal. What on Earth is the appeal of an Altima Coupe? Sorry. I don't see this one at all. |

The racial discrimination on general Asian population/ automotive manufacturers is simply off the line here. |

??? :iono: Whaaa...? If someone is wearing an ugly shirt and everybody agrees, is that being a racist? Or are we just being honest with them..? I think over the years we have seen and whitnessed the crazy designes that have come out of Asia. Their still trying to make Go-Bots as cars. |

Luckily we don't get things like the Altima over here, but seeing as it's FWD and with those overhangs I'd imagine it handles like a stuck pig.
RX8 is a much tighter looking package, RWD, a light rear-mid engine - I'd imagine it's miles better to drive from reading the reviews. Nice interior as well. As mentioned the fuel and oil consumption of the rotary engines is not wonderful...but the Altima is just fat, bloated and hideous in all respects, IMHO! It's so chunky those wheels look like 13"! (and they're probably 16"/17") |

Great question for me to answer PrototypeX. You see, the Japenese are enamored with all things fat, bulbous, and bloated looking. They simply find it cute. I suppose its a case of "opposites attract". Things that Japenese design are generally the anthesis of their own appearance. Japenese are very thin with narrow eyes, as a consequence, their designs are bulbous with oversized eyes. They were the first to go with the oversized headlight look, which are basically the eyes of the car....that mirrors their animation style with oversized eyes and soft rounded proportions. Here's classic example of what the Japenese mind produces....
At the risk of being redundant, I'll repeat myself. Fat, bulbous, and bloated looking with oversized eyes and soft rounded proportions. That's just what they find cute/attractive, and that's what they produce. Now look at the Altima coupe and that's basically what it looks like, its a soft looking bubble with big eyes. Its a real life Pokécar. In addition, the Japenese often cannot stop themselves from from adding some tacky, gratuitous looking design element that just destroys the entire appearance of a car. An Impreza or Lancer are O.K. looking econobox sedans, until you fugly them up with an air scoop and an absurdly oversized rear wing. Its the automotive equivalent of putting a bikini on a fat chick...we don't want to see that...and it just doesn't go together, but somehow they just don't get it. The ridiculous fender flares of an RX-8 or new Miata are a perfect example of where someone needed to step in and interrupt the natural/organic Japenese design process, and stop the immature looking, out of proportion nonsense that the Japenese relentlessly produce before making production. But unfortunately, it didn't happen. The new Miata is basically a good looking design that was ruined with acenine looking obscenely large fender flares. Anybody want to try to explain the dashboard layout of the new Civic to me? What makes a 1er so attractive is that its a lean, athletic, mature design without any hint of tackyness to be found. What else yould you like to know about culturally inspired design, PrototypeX? |

People over the age of 18 still use the word "posers"? Really?
The Altima is a good car for what it is... an affordable FWD daily driver. The RX-8 is obviously much more of a sports car, but lets be realistic, it's ugly. |
