I saw a Smokey Granite Mica Lexus IS250 the other day..wow, what a great looking car. This may be my 2nd choice!

Too bad it is a 4-door car.
Toyota might get my money if they offer the IS in a coupe. Infiniti G, BMW 3 series, Honda Accord and Civic are all available with 2 or 4 doors. Heck, even Pontiac offers a choice. Are you listening, Toyota? |

The IS250 is a nice car if you don't care about steering feel. But according to Garret and this thread, you can't compare sedans and coupes, and you're not suppose to drive a sedan if you're single.

Having a hard time staying focused on this BMW thing eh?
I'm thinking about getting a new Challenger next spring and having a redneckathon. That would be a marathon redneck fest for those unaware. The first real life car pics, and initial details just hit about 10 days ago... http://www.ontariostreetcar.com/showthread.php?t=601 Although I will admit Lexus has alot of great cars...for grandparents. Old grandparents. Old boring grandparents. |

I think that a lot of people automatically equate Asian design element to something cheap and generic. I for one think that the IS is a great example of a classy, beautiful design that is distinctively Japanese. It looks especially nice in black or white. In terms of exterior design I would place it above all other competitors on the market right now, including the E90. Not quite up there with the E46 though.
BTW, I agree with S2000 that it is a somewhat feminine design with an emphasis on flowing lines and curvatures, but overall the car looks very coherent, and downright beautiful from the front. But the interior is quite lame, lower of the two engines is just too weak, and the option ordering system is a typical Toyota fuckup. I wouldn't buy one. |

Ya, the speed is a problem but at least you can get it with a proper gearbox as opposed to Lexus's ridiculous automatic.

That is the riciest rice since BMW's tii concept. The IS-F is an embarassment if, for no other reason, than the fact that its "stacked dual exhausts" aren't even connected to the exhaust system!!!! They're plastic bits molded into the bumper panel!!!
It is difficult for me to imagine why Lexus would embarass itself in such a manner. Talk about going from some street cred to zero street cred in 4.9 seconds... |

I wouldnt describe the ride on the new IS as 'couch-like' but even still, I would do anything to get rid of a gearbox that seems content on driving around 5th gear in car parks.
