135i or g37/35 coupe

Just thought I would ask what people thought of the g35 or g37 coupes compared to a 135i. Assuming a 135i starts at 35k w/options its easily 40k, and I can get a g37 for around 37k or a g35 for low 30's. So I would just like to know what people think of the new and old G coupe and if that would be a good deal compared to the 135i.

Funny. I was just about to post a similar question/comparison! I'm now (also) debating between the 135i and G-coupe sport 6MT. These two seem closest competitors. Similarities include price, power, road-holding and level of luxury.

One area, however, where the Infiniti no doubt blows past the BMW is in build quality. Infiniti is known for absolute perfect fit and finish with not a speck of glitch for many years of ownership. BMW's weakness is in rattles and sqeaks and electronic/electrical gremlins. :frown:

I prefer the smaller yet taller dimensions of the 1 though. It's a tough choice for me. Never owned either variety. Curious about other opinions...

The problem that I have with the G37 is that it weigh MORE than the G35. I will never figure out why.

Somebody who parks in my garage at work has a new metallic white G37 Sport. It is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S in the metal.

You'd just have to drive it back-to-back with the 1er to see which one is the right car for you, but I agree: the G37 is a natural competitor for the 135i.

It's those extra 0.2 liters.

Coupes often weigh more than a sedan.

The G37 looks cool, except it doesn't come with twin turbos! On top of that it weighs more than the 135 while having less TQ stock.

The sport does come with a long list features tho, incl. those 19s.

We're in the same purchase dilemna of G37 vs. 135i.

My wife really likes the 335i, but with all the goodies she wants, it is too much $$$. So, the loaded G37 gets the nod vs. the 335i. Both are attractive coupes.

Now that the 135i will be available, it is in the running for our next ride. Smaller and faster at a similar price point to the G37.

I too am worried about the build quality/ reliability of the BMW. We've had them in the family, and it wasn't all roses and sunshine. [flame suit on]

For us it boils down to this: big, attractive, loaded with every gizmo, reliable = G37, or smaller, lighter, much faster, sportier handling = 135i.

European delivery factors in for us as well.

Here is an excerpt from Edmunds review of the G37:

Quote:
There aren't many entry-level luxury coupes on the market, but the available few are impressive. The new Audi A5 is worthy of cross-shopping with the G37, though it starts at a higher base price. The G's principal competition is, therefore, the BMW 335i, which is quicker, more involving to drive and a few steps ahead in interior materials quality. However, the Infiniti is still tremendous, and it offers a significant price and optional feature-list advantage over a similarly equipped Bimmer. If that's the type of trade-off you're happy to live with, then the 2008 Infiniti G37 should make an excellent addition to your garage -- as either a luxury coupe or a sports car.
