Hill Assist?
I noticed that when I stop at a light or stop sign the brake remain engaged after I take my foot off the petal, until I provide enough force to release them (Manual), My Subaru STi had this feature also called "Hill Assist", basically helps so you don't roll backwards. I cannot find anything stating that the M2 has this or anything stating how to turn it off. Can anyone else confirm this happened to them or am I just losing it lol, if so any ideas how to turn it off?

I don't like it either. Maybe it can be turned off in a setting. Sometimes the brake releases too hard and it isn't smooth. This could be great though, for a new manual driver. |

I had hoped that following the release of the latest software update (07/2023.53), that the auto-handbrake enable feature would have been restored when parking.
Alas, no such luck. |

My car is also manual and I have verified that in neutral the system does not work. In first gear yes but I have not tried it with reverse gear. Does it also work with reverse gear?
This device was already available on manual BMWs in the 90s and I always found it very practical although it is somewhat abrupt. |

The idrive knob is definitely easier to reach in the manual.
I personally think piano gloss looks plasticy and cheap, I like the matte buttons. But YMMV of course. |

Agreed, while I was out over the last couple of days confirmed that if you let the hold release it won’t re-engage either, so very easy to defeat at a red light if you don’t want it to interfere.

Yeah I have been playing with some ways to get around it, so its not too bad now that I know it has a timed release |

I hate the hill assist. I find it shocking how my Golf R and Fiat 500 Abarth had an option to turn it off, but my BMW M2 doesn't.
Oh well. It hasn't been too annoying yet, but I hope there is a way to turn it off one day. Maybe a software update? |
