Should I buy this 328i xdrive?
So I have found a 2012 bmw 328i drove with the n52 and it has 160k on it but the thing looks like it came off the show room floor. The guy has every maintenance record. Hasn’t driven it in the winter. He has had the valve cover gasket replaced, oil pan gasket replaced, replaced all the plugs and has changed oil every 5k miles. I have him down to 6k on this car. Would this be one you would buy or would you stay away with it having 160k on it? It is a very beautiful car

Prolly all the money for that car. But with that maintenance history, sounds like a safe purchase to me.

Many years ago 160,000 miles would mean the engine had been rebored 3 times and oil consumption was around 100 miles per pint as they car went down the road followed by a black cloud of smoke.
These days not so. Check cambelt has been recently changed (if it has one)......otherwise it seems like a sound buy. |

Depends on the packages on it
E92 is worth a bit more, also if it comes with Idrive and MSport packages The N52 is reliable enough if maintenance is followed I think the unreliable part sadly is the GM transmission 6k is not bad for an E92 with MSport and Nav Otherwise I'd haggle down to 5.5 if it's an E90 without nav and MSport |

Lot's of "expert" advice here!
Cam belt?? E92 bringing more money than an E90 . . . as they get closer to 200,000 than 100,000 miles? That would be a small fraction of a very fractional value anyway. The only thing that would give this car any value would be if it had a manual transmission but, as much as everyone hates on the French-made GM Hydramatic transmission, they have been flawless in my wife's BMWs to well-over this mileage. That's been the least of those BMW's problems. Buy any BMW with this mileage at a throw-away price, in case you have to . . . throw it away! I bought my wife's current E90 328ix with half that mileage just a couple of years ago for less than $6k. That replaced her previous E39 528i for which I paid $500 with 160,000 miles on it, and we enjoyed for nearly eight-years before the electrical system forced me to sideline it. The transmission and engine were still fine. |

Check for rust, even though supposedly not driven in winter (why else have an X drive???). Otherwise sounds fine if the options you are looking for. Maintenance records are such a bonus!
