Rear Facing Child Seats?

Considering picking up an M2 manual as a weekend fun toy as a perfect blend of modern tech, price, looks etc.

Just humoring myself w/the idea of sticking in a rear facing child seat to take my 2 year old along. Anyone do it? Have pictures? Hows the back seat space on here?

Might wait to pick up car until seat is forwarding facing, will obviously make for an easier life when that happens.

Just trying to see what people do on here, and if it's possible going rear facing.

Thanks for all the input!

I am not a large person and I have a hard time getting into and out of the back seat. I'm not even trying to hold a child while doing it and it sucks. Do some people put up with it? Yup. Will you be able to deal? That's a you question sir.

Your height will also matter. The back of the front seat does go back far enough to have no leg room in the rear.

We were watching my 5-month old niece the other day and it was difficult getting her rear-facing car seat in my wife's X3MC behind my wife's seat & my wife is only 5'2". I can't imagine trying to fit it in the M2.

I owned a '99 Camaro SS when my older two kids were born & kept it for about a year. But after cramming the car seats in (and they were much smaller then) it was just too much of a hassle. Even though my wife had an SUV, I sold the Camaro for a more practical vehicle.

Also think about it from a safety standpoint, let's say something were to happen on your drive. Think about the difficulty of getting the child out. Personally I would never put a child seat in the back of a 2-door sports coupe.

We did it for a decent while in my 135i. Its laborious but def possible! Get a seat protector though, trust me.

It is absolutely doable and once you get it down it's not as bad as people make it sound. I currently a rear and front facing in back of the F87 and I'm 6' tall. I use a convertible/all in one for the rear facing on pass side. You'll want to spend some time getting everything just right in terms of angles. Then for in/out I open driver's door, tile and slide seat forward then I hold my daughter and I almost sit in the rear driver's side seat and it's pretty easy to then get out. Only tricky part is the pass legroom depending on which car seat you go with.

Very helpful especially on the image - thanks! I think rotating seat is a must for backseat then. Going to look at some of the options.

Any seat protectors you recommend?

Yes - would only be for occasional drives. No way I'd have patience to do that in daily.

Sounds like a bit of a puzzle to get kids back there, but possible! Thanks for sharing your feedback.
