Integrated Brake recall

I’ve done the VIN checker and it comes back with an error message. My car is still in transit, but reading about this recall, can someone confirm that it does/doesn’t include the G87?

Apparently it’s the name BMW give to the electrically operated brake system 🤷‍♂️

I know the G87 has this system but I think the answer is no since there’s been no chatter about it in this forum.

Looks like it's going to if this is accurate.

http://https://www.bmwblog.com/2024/05/11/bmw-recall-for-integrated-braking-system/

"This recall spans across a vast array of BMW’s model series, including everything from the compact class 2 Series Active Tourer and X1, through the robust SUV lines such as the X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7, to the high-end 5 and 7 Series sedans, as well as their high-performance M models and electric vehicles like the iX1, i5, and i7."

Ah.. and yeah, looks like a pretty massive recall effort, including G87. Yikes.

I guess one more pro to waiting for MY2025.

I would hope if our cars are built after Feb 2024, BMW would build the cars with the updated system & those cars wouldn't be subject to the recall.

I read somewhere here before when they set the brake mode to the higher setting and track it, It feels worse than in regular mode.
I wonder if it has something to do with that.

From the blog post on it-- "The root cause of the fault has been traced back to a potential signal disruption in the engine position sensor, which may lead to a failure in the hydraulic brake force support."

Its a lot of cars but a number of high selling models. I haven't seen anything official nor have I received anything regarding my MY23 M240 or G87 M2.

You can always run your VIN:

Just checked, I don't see any new recalls for the G87. It's either not affected by it or the system hasn't been updated yet. Will keep an eye on this.

Not in North America. Here is a list of what IS covered and the M2 isn't.
