Break in question
Due to an out of country assignment I will not be able to drive my M2 for 18 months.
I have not taken delivery of the car, I expect to it to be at my dealer within the next couple of months. I will take delivery and straight to the garage. Will there be any adverse effects if the initial break in service is delayed? |

Honestly he's not wrong, minor updates, maybe different color and further troubleshooting of the factory/build process ^^^

Agree, more colors, more HP, and if you are out long enuf, maybe LCI?
Tell the dealer you want to move forward with a new one when you return and see if you can negotiate your "deposit" to be used then. |

No way I'd take delivery and wait 18 months to drive.
Assuming you are paying cash if you are letting it sit for 18 months. You also need to insure the car. You could take the money and invest it, and incremental cost would be absorbed. Even if you wait and order a 2025 in six-nine months you are better off not having a depreciating liability sitting around.

With that in mind, if the dealer permits the cancellation and agrees to apply my deposit toward a 2025 model, I will take that route. This way, I can potentially benefit from any new features or improvements in the next model year. |

I can almost guarantee your dealer will be fine with you crediting your initial deposit to a 2025 model or 2026. They will sell the one you have on order with ease.
Also to your point about ZB and manual- they will most likely not discontinue manual or ZB into the LCI era (at least base M2). I think you will be safe in the long run. I wouldn’t worry about manual going away until the end of the G-chassis era all together. |
