Can't Pick a Color!

I need help picking out a color!

I currently have a Brooklyn Gray on order for build week 25, but I am flip-flopping every hour whether I should change it to Zandvoort Blue or not. This weekend I saw some M2s in ZB for the first time and I liked the color way more than I thought I would. It really stands out and makes any carbon fiber or black parts/accents pop. I saw about a hundred BMWs in BG, it's available across a ton of models, while ZB is obviously exclusive to the M2. I have also seen a ton of similar grays that Honda, Toyota, Kia, Audi, etc. are all making and it feels like the 'flat' gray is super-popular across a lot of car brands right now.

BG is the safe color, which I wouldn't hate, but ZB is really unique, but I worry I might regret it after a couple years. I also think it kinda gives off some 'look at me' vibes and I'm not buying this car to try and show off. Other people have said it's a 'girly' color, I actually kind of agree but that doesn't really bother me, tbh.

I'm already talking in circles here, and I don't really know what I'm looking for in this post, haha. I imagine most BG owners will say go with that, and most ZB owners will say go with that. Has anyone else struggled to choose between these colors? How did you pick?

I went with Zandvoort Blue, having never seen it in person, and I'm glad I did. I love Brooklyn Gray, but the appeal for ZB to me was something unique/different than the other 2 series and something that had a little bit more "pop".

I don't think you can go wrong with either color choice though.

ZB is nice and I would recommend. It's also really cool at sunset.

My original order was ZB...5 months later I saw an M2 with it in the showroom (pictures do not tell the full story IMO). Immediate change to BGM.

Just remember, tastes are subjective. Yes, many manufacturers have a gray similar to BGM (read similar but not exact) but it's what you do to your car to make it different. I guarantee there are no BGM BMWs nor any other similarly colored gray car that has a combination like this.

ZB for sure, it's exclusive and growing on many folks.

I have TR but ZB stands out a lot more than BG, it’s a nice color but half the BMWs on the road are BG at this point

Went through exactly the same scenario with either black or ZB. In the end I’ve ordered ZB & feel good with my decision. (Build late May.) I love the BSM & BG, but as it’s an ‘M’ car I think ZB compliments the character better imo

I have a deposit on a 2025 M2 and will be facing a similar decision - ZB or White? White is the safe choice. My last 3 cars have been white: 2015 M235i, 2018 Camaro 2SS 1LE, and 2021 M2C.

My first thought was to go white again. But I drove an hour to a dealer to see one in ZB and loved it.

As far as getting it and later regretting it, I had a similar concern with a 2005 Mustang GT I bought. I was set to order Silver, but actually changed the color after I saw one on a lot and hated it. I went with "Screaming Yellow" despite the salesman telling me I'd regret it. His analogy was that it would be like going out at night with the stereo on full blast, and then when getting in the car in the morning, the stereo that sounded great the night before would sound obnoxious.

I ignored the salesman's advice, bought the yellow Mustang, kept it for 10 years, and never got tired of it. Never a single day of regret. It got comments and attention the whole time, especially in the beginning. And for those wondering, no, it was not a cop magnet and I never got a ticket.

I haven't ordered yet, but I'm going ZB all the way.

My choice of ZB was easy. That was the color of the first unspoken for HEA/launch M2 with a 6-speed manual I found in my search.

I would have considered a car with an automatic and in any color although a black car with an automatic would have been at the bottom of my list. Don't get me wrong the M2 in black looks awesome just I'm not a fan of the extra work to keep a dark color car looking nice.

The car in that ZB color does draw the looks/attention. I didn't pick it because of that, actually didn't really know what the public's take on the color would be. Didn't care. Was a color I liked.

Is it a girly color? Well, so far a fair number of the compliments I've received about the car have come from women. (My 2006 Pontiac GTO in Torrid Red received a number of compliments from women. As did -- more recently -- my 2020 Dodge Challenger in Hellraisin' (dark metallic purple).)

But guys like the ZB too. And often go out of their way to come over and compliment the car and color.

My first BMW 230i was in BG. Nice color. I could like an M2 in that color. Maybe a bit more common than ZB -- which was a special launch color is what I gather -- but doesn't make the color any less attractive to me.

Have seen a black M2 around town, and one in red, and of course the cars look just great. (Dealer employees have told me there's another M2 in ZB in town but I have not seen it yet.)

My current 230xi is in Mineral White. That's a good looking color, too. (And the car has received some favorable comments from both men and women so I'm not alone in thinking the color is a good looking color.)

Bottom line is if you are flip flopping every hour over color choice not sure I'd want to recommend a color. Chances are shortly after you picked up the car you'd decide you didn't like the color and blame me.

if i was in your shoes, i would be waiting for vegas red, SPY, or seeing what the individual options are. at this point it should only be a few more weeks, and if you arent in love with any of the current options, why not?

I never should have read this thread!! I was stuck between Alpine White and ZB. I finally decided in Alpine White….nice clean classic look and now with this thread I think I am back deciding between the two. I don’t mind the “look at me” attention that ZB may bring…kind of like it but I like the idea of the Stormtrooper look I was going to go for.

I liked ZB off the rip for something different and less common. But thought I may like TR. Got to see it in person and confirmed ZB that day. Many months later very happy I went with original thought. But as many said its subjective and just gotta find what works for you and make it your own.

Wow, thanks for the replies everybody. The ZB owners showed up big time, and I think you've convinced me to swap and get the blue! Ultimately when I see the BG I think 'that's fine' but when I see the blue I think 'wow' and that's really my answer right there. I really appreciate everyone's thoughts, I'll start replying individually but I've been busy all day so I've got some catching up to do!

I really don't care about the power bump (I'm never gonna notice) and the new colors have been confirmed and I don't care for any of them. (Another gray...great) To me, it's not worth the extra weight just for the 20hp if I'm gonna get one of the '24 colors anyway. I'm not paying for an individual paint either, so that doesn't really matter to me.

Thanks for your perspective, I actually had the opposite. My order was BG but I saw a ZB in person and really fell for it. I agree that both colors do not look the same in picture and both look better in person.

Just remember, tastes are subjective. Yes, many manufacturers have a gray similar to BGM (read similar but not exact) but it's what you do to your car to make it different. I guarantee there are no BGM BMWs nor any other similarly colored gray car that has a combination like this.
Absolutely, I have seen you post your car elsewhere on the forums, and it is certainly unique. Your wheel choice isn't for me, but it certainly stands out. You are one of the few BG owners who showed up in this thread, I appreciate the input!

This was a big reason I started having second thoughts on BG. I started seeing TONS of BMWs in brooklyn gray (I saw at least 3 more today) and dozens of other manufacturer's very similar colors...they are everywhere now. I think I want something more unique.

Thanks for this story! Of all the posts, this might be the one that really convinced me to switch to ZB. I previously had a 2015 M4 in white and I loved it...going for the classic stormtrooper look. The F82 looked really sharp in white. Personally, I don't think the G87 M2 looks good in white, which is weird because I think the F87 looks great in white, otherwise I would have considered it again.

Thanks for the perspective and posting the pics. Your car looks great! Do you mind if I ask what trunk spoiler and front vent inlets you have? I think those are the two carbon fiber parts I want to add to mine once I have it.
