Is MSRP for '25 Not Enough in Your Area?

I was hoping the whole 'market adjustment' thing was behind us, but I offered MSRP (with no extras other than actual legal additions) to order a '25 M2 and was denied. The counter / "best we can do" was 1.12% higher so that 'doc fees' would be included. I'm in a one dealer market, so it got me wondering if other markets are still getting market adjustment pricing?

Thx

I am in a one dealer market and they sell at MSRP or below always. They care more about the relationship with the customers and lifetime value then current sales.

I even still service my 2015 X3 with them I like them so much.

My dealer sells at MSRP. Maybe call around to nearby towns. I think the reason your dealer is asking for more because they know they are the only game in town.

My two local dealers sell at MSRP when you order a new M2. They don't work with buyers in all states but could be worth a look. I'm in the Twin Cities, MN area.

I got some off of MSRP for my 2024 offer. When I inquired about ditching that car for a 2025 they told me it would go for MSRP, plus when you add in the MSRP increase I am sticking with my 2024 order. The car should be here early next week. Arrives at Port Hueneme on 21 June, should be at the dealer 4-5 days after

Most M cars are still at MSRP, maybe a few percent off if you're lucky. The best I was able to negotiate was $1,500 off a year ago - but I also waited 2 years for the car. I was surprised they even offered a discount.

I initially contacted BMW of Sydney regarding the purchase of the G87, I then contacted BMW Sylvania and their quote was close to $3k cheaper then Sydney's...guess who got the business? For non Australians the two dealerships are approximately 25 kilometres apart (15 miles or thereabouts).

I have been offered $3-4K off of a base M4. I actually like the way the M2 looks vs. the M4.

You need to put a little effort in, or contract the work out to a broker. MSRP is the starting point. Do not pay an ADM of any sort (forced add-ons, extra doc fees, APR bump, straight up ADM, etc). You should be able to get a discount, if you put in the effort.

My purchase radius is not limited by distance. My previous two vehicles were purchased 11 & 14 hours away respectively. It was nice to find my M2 70 mi away, but I was in contact with dealers in multiple states.

2 dealerships I am talking with are both at MSRP. May bet a few % off, but if not, that is fine.

Thank you everyone for your input. I'm not interested in the best price possible. After reading this thread, I'm sure I could find one under MSRP, but if that car is hours away, well, for many reasons that savings is quickly no longer a real savings.

I made a fair offer (as you've confirmed) and in typical dealership style, no first offer is ever good enough and they're just squeezing the turnip. It sours what could have been a fantastic and pleasant experience and relegated it to just another BS unpleasant antagonistic exercise typical of pretty much every other dealership I've experienced.

Anyway, my offer is firm and more than fair, so I will now explore outside my local market.

I haven't played that back & forth game for almost 20 years. I contact the sales manager with my offer and my trade details, if any. Let them know I'm not going to waste their time, nor do I want mine wasted. If they can meet my offer, great. If not, no hard feelings. They either come back with yes or no. If yes, I secure my financing outside the dealer, tell them what my terms are. If they can beat them, I'll finance with them. If they come back with no or a counter offer that is not acceptable, I move on.

When I ordered my 24, I walked in, dealer wanted $5k over. I said I would do MSRP max and went home. A few days later SA emailed me and said $2,500 over. I said no. A week later , SA reached out and we did an order at MSRP.

Hit up a bunch of dealers and say NO until you get the price you want.

I paid MSRP for mine when I ordered it all the way back in April of 2023 so no I don’t think that’s normal …Especially in the production numbers these things are being cranked out in. Just need to find a dealer that’s not a scumbag unfortunately. My dealer doesn’t charge markups on anything that I have seen. Might have to drive further to find a good one and just use that dealer for services.

Try Rusnak or Crevier they will get you a 2025 at MSRP as will Camarillo BMW.

It's only been the last 10 years for me but this is how I've done it as well. Everything is negotiated over phone or email before I even step foot into the dealership, whether used or new. Most of the sales folks I've purchased from seemed to enjoy working that way, probably because it shows you're a serious buyer right out the gate and no one is wasting the other persons time.
