It’s funny you say this. I had the same thought. I got 55%, but it looks much darker.

Mine had, I believe, 35% when I bought it. I want to have it removed and go with 20%.

Mine is a steel frame sitting on a factory production line that hasn't even been painted yet so it has no tint.

That's it. That's my post.

i would of never considered 55% but that’s the look i was looking for. actually not more for look but just uv/heat protection.

the 20% i got almost looked like limo tint in my younger years. i was considering 35% but in the sample it looked like no tint at all.

maybe its the small windows on the car not letting much light in

I went for 30% percent to not be too dark and avoid attention from LEO because nothing is legal on front windows here.

It is also cloudy like 2/3rds of the year.

looks like 30-35 is the sweet spot but your 30 looks lighter than others. i think i found the reason for the differences in darkness. i got the expel higher level tint with 99% infared reduction. its suppose to reduce heat by 99%. i have a feeling that this technology is preventing even more sunlight from coming through

can anybody comment on the film you got? my last car was tinted about 2 years ago and these options were not around

I don't know what tint is currently on my M2, but I don't feel it is the highest quality/heat reduction film. I can definitely tell the difference between it and my previous car with higher heat-blocking 35% when the sun is shining in the side windows. We have the 99% heat-reduction 20% on my wife's X3MC, and it's almost too dark for me at night on the sides.

Just picked mine up today. Taking it Friday to get ppf with 35% on the side and rear. And 45% on the windshield. Hope it looks right without compromising too much visibility

If going with 35% on the sides make sure it's the highest uv-blocking/heat-reduction film. I just drove 4 hours yesterday, starting at 9 am, with the sun shining through my driver's window. The side of my face felt like it was getting sun burned. This doesn't happen in my other vehicle with 35% on the sides. My guess is the dealer installed cheap film prior to sale (I didn't get any paperwork on it).

The UV and IR reduction shouldn't be a factor of tint shade. I've been shopping around getting quotes and talking to quite a few different shops for the past week and it's always the same with the Xpel or Ceramic Pro product lines. 99% UV, with between 68-88% IR reduction (the actual heat reduction) based on the level of film I want to go with, but the shade is independent of that. Basically I could opt for 35% with 99% UV and 78% IR, or 20% and it's still, you guessed it, 99% UV and 78% IR.

Yes, the level of film is what I was trying to get at. Some levels, depending on the manufacturer don't have certain % shade (35% for example). The film we put on my wife's X3MC had the highest UV & IR reduction and was only available in 20% or 30%. If she wanted 35% she had to go with less UV/IR reduction.

Oh gotcha, now that I read it again it makes sense and I'm not even sure how I misread it the first time. Nevermind me, I've been up to my ears in Xpel this, Ceramic Pro that, XR, XR+, XR+++, and so on

No worries. As my wife says, I don't always explain things clearly
