2024 G87 Door not Aligned

Hey G87/G42 owners,

I took delivery of my M2 last week and I noticed that the driver side door is not aligned when the closed. But passenger side is perfectly fine. Does your G87 also have door/body alignment issues? Will the dealer be able to fix it?

Mine is similar to this.

I've read in other threads that it's adjustable, but I personally have no idea.

Rubber mallet.

I wouldn't have the dealership mess with something like that, will most likely go downhill fast.

Mine was exactly the same, drivers door (UK), was sitting a fraction too high.
The door catch loop thing in the door jamb is adjustable, it’s a larger torx screw, T40 I think. The latch even has lines to gauge how far up/down you’ve moved it. I think I moved mine two marks down and now it’s perfect, no need for the dealer.

Now to throw a wrench into this whole topic...

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1976150

This post, specifically: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...79&postcount=9

I know it's an X3 forum, but someone posted an image with an adjustment guide, and it states that "protrusion is recommended ..."

Not sure if I'm interpreting this correctly, or where that image even came from, but is it possible this slight "misalignment" is desirable / within spec?

It might be to reduce wind noise? I assume if the rear door’s leading edge was flush or protruding compared to the front door’s trailing edge, it’d probably make a bit more wind noise. Just guessing

Years ago when my Porsche experience started there was much ado about the front bumper cover trailing edge being higher than the leading front trunk edge.

Some owners were so bothered by this they adjusted the front trunk height to be flush with the front bumper cover trailing edge.

Wind noise and water intrusion into the front trunk was the result.

That was my guess as well.
