Question about intake and inlet pipe

I’m going to order an intake today but I’m a bit confused on which kits come with the inlet pipe.

I’m between the Injen and Dinan, I want to add some sound but the completely open designs don’t sit well with me. So I’m just trying to figure everything I need, I don’t want to order a “kit” and be missing parts to actually install it.

Thanks everyone

Theres a version of the MST intake that comes with a turbo inlet. The kit comes with everything you need to install it.

Dinan has the intake and inlet. But not sold together that I'm aware of.

I saw the Dinan inlet but honestly was trying to find a cheaper solution if possible. I’m not really looking to dress up the engine bay

The MST seems like it would work for me, I just have one question. What’s up with the negative reviews on your site for the full MST kit? I see two people saying the inlet pipe is an inch too short, was that a past issue or something?

Thanks

It should be a bit longer IMO, if you look at my image above it just reaches the intake box. I at first thought it didnt fit, but it does, you just need to realize this during the install and angle it into the box as pictured, enough to clamp on the filter. I have no regrets and would buy the intake all over again.

it fits if done correctly, we keep all fair reviews even if they are negative

Yea I’ve had a lot of stuff that just requires playing with it a bit. I’m convinced this is the one for me, the MST alone was already looking good. Thank you for all the info, very helpful

If you get the turbo inlet version, be gentle when tightening the clamp around the turbo, just go hand tight, as it is clamping onto a plastic base that you do not want to crack.

And the connector pictured in the below post is a nightmare to take off. Theres likely a logical way but I couldnt figure it out. I tried squeezing every part I could think of and eventually I got lucky and it popped off.

https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=31015351

I broke the outer plastic ring on it, but it still secures tightly onto the pipe so im happy.

That entire thread may be worth a read if you go MST+turbo inlet.

Garage List
Curiosity question, do the B48 (230i) versions of these intakes delete the resonator? If so, so they come with everything needed to do so?

I recently got the Dinan intake with the turbo inlet. They are separate items to order. I added the picture with their part number. Great quality. Its the more expensive of the two but IMO the quality and it being a (mostly) sealed intake is what sold it to me. Plus the Dinan name LOL. Name: 458093772_1283652689286051_7610610550684952820_n.jpg

I like that the Dinan turbo inlet uses the same style mount as the stock inlet.

I went with the https://burgertuning.com/products/bm...ormance-intake intake.

I really wanted an Eventuri, but price is an issue. Overall I am very please with the BMS intake, easy install, solid construction, and great appearance.
