M240i xDrive 600 whp?

I’m coming out of a heavily modified 392 Challenger making 671 rwhp.

I’m going to order a 2025 M240i xDrive. About 600 to the wheels will keep me at the same power to weight ratio I had before, only with AWD, which would be awesome.

Can I achieve that with a tune, intake and exhaust components, or would that require something more like a turbo pulley?

I want to also keep it reliable and with good road manners for long trips and such. Also, normal 93 octane pump gas. Thanks for any input!

the ECU is also locked from the factory so you will need to take it out and ship it overseas to unlock it

I hear that every time BMW send an update it will wipe the new map. Not sure how true this is.

Yikes. Is there a certain year that this starts being an issue? I can (perhaps) look at the used M2 market, or something.

It started in 2022 for all bmws. So all g42s and g87s if you are looking at 2 series.

It’s very true. If you install an OTA update it will lock your DME and if you go in to the dealer and they update the DME it will lock again.

Then guess what? Need to ship your DME off to Finland again to have it unlocked and be able to flash the tune again.

The last 2 OTA updates did nothing noticeable, and its been quite a while since there was one. I'm guessing we are going to see one last update soonish and then they probably stop sending out any updates anyway.

Getting the ECU unlocked in Finland; you ship it on a Monday and you'll have it back in your hands Friday. Its not really that big a deal... so long as you only have to do it once. It would ruin my mood for a month if I accidently updated/locked it and had to send it out a second time though.

But lets circle back for a second... WTF is a turbo pulley??

I put a turbo pulley on my brother's stock b7 rs4 and it really increased the power a ton. After we did that we decided to tackle the water to water charge cooler and the valve coilovers.

A b7 rs4 is a NA v8 not a turboed engine

Whoosh? lol

(In case even more explanation is needed, literally everything I wrote is fake stuff, but my brother does have a clean AF 70k mile RS4 that is very fun)

Brain fart. I'm used to superchargers. I forgot turbos function off of the exhaust. With a SC a smaller pulley = more boost.

I talked to a BMW speed shop, and he recommended I go with a new M2. I asked him about the last gen, and (according to him) there's a $4000 upgrade you have to do so it can handle the additional torque.
