Are the iSweep Brake Pads worth it?
Hi Guys,
Hope your weekend is going well. I am currently waiting to get my G87 and while I wait I have been purchasing some items I wanted to add on to the car (TLG mudflaps, Zunsport front grills, Oil cooler guard, Rear spoiler) and one of the items I have been debating are the iSweep 1500 brake pads. I know the vast majority of the people who have purchased them have loved that the brake dust is drastically reduced which is what I am looking for BUT what gives me some pause is that while some say the stopping power is the same (or very similar) to the OEM brake pads others have said it is not. This is what I have battling right now. If they are not the same, how much of a difference is it? I do have a bit of a heavy foot but I would not be tracking the car (mainly some back roads, highway driving to and from work, and stop and go traffic. Would I have to basically slam on the brake to get the car to stop? Are the OEM brake pads to sensitive that the moment you touch them the car start to slow down? Just want to get an idea for the feel of the OEM brake pads and the ISweeps. I did test drive a G80 M3 to see what it was like driving an M cars and I liked it. The brakes felt fine to me and the test drive was similar to what I would be driving on the usual (Highway and city driving). Thanks, Kal |

They're not very different. But they will have slightly less initial bite, stopping power won't be different.

If the dust on your wheels from the OEM pads REALLY drives you crazy - yes, the iSweeps are worth every single penny. I haven't washed my car in 4-5 weeks & the only visible dust is small build up in some spots. And it blows off. The iSweeps' dust just doesn't stick to the wheels like the OEM dust does.
You will notice a different brake feel - they're not as grabby as OEM. Doesn't mean they're unsafe or don't stop the car, or you have to change driving habits. They're perfectly fine for daily around the town driving & AOK for some safe, spirited fun, too. I didn't drive around enough on the OEM pads that I can say I noticed a difference in brake feel with the iSweeps, except for initial bite. The iSweep 1500s aren't meant for track use, FYI.

Less dust but otherwise, would be a pass for me.
No, they aren't "proven" in the brake world. If it weren't for the less dust, nobody would go with them. |

Dunno what this guy is on about, isweep 1500 pad has been around for like 10 years. They are great on the cars I've had them on and I've never heard anything but positive reviews.

Brakes are one of the most important safety features on a car. Picking a pad cause of its low dust...no thank you. Lets forget user reviews that they are low dust but nothing special otherwise...they are an unknown in the brake world. Personally, would rather have a better stopping pad and regarded/proven manufacturer than clean rims. |

Right. I could have if I felt there was a reason. If I wasn't given the opportunity to run Girodisc's pre-release Magic Pads I would have stuck with the Brembos and dealt with the dust. |

Lmao. Acting like isweep are an unknown or that street ceramic pads are some kind of high tech secret to make correctly.

Every owner has priorities in their choice of parts hence the plethora of available options.
Enough have changed to iSweep to make them a viable option. Ignore the elitist static. |

The problem is is there aren't a lot of choices for pads (for those who was quality and low dust). So tell me, you know the difference in brake pad composition and how that affects it? No, not all pads are made the same. Just like tires...why do so many go with the PS4S? Please show me where people are choosing the iSweep cause of its stopping power. |

So you don't have any actual reason why isweep 1500 are bad, but you are just saying because you haven't heard of them they can't be good?
Having owned quite a few performance cars, only one thing is consistent, the brake pad offerings vary greatly. Sometimes you have 20 options, sometimes you have 2. Only thing I know is that ebc pads have not been good in my past uses.

Correct, he has no experience with them & can't provide any information to support his stance against them. I have the iSweep 1500s on two vehicles and have driven a combined 34k mi on them. They stop virtually the same as stock (nobody will really be able to tell the difference) and have significantly less dust. Win/win

I have the iSweep 2000's on my G87 and I like them. Quite a bit less dust than stock pads and no squeaking. I had a G80 M3 on factory pads for 3 years and the brown sticky dust and squeaking drove me nuts. I don't think the 2000's are as grippy or strong as the factory pads but the trade off for the type of driving I mostly do was worth it to me.
