Using existing audio gear

So...I've got some audio gear from my previous car that's just sitting around collecting dust. I've got a 4-channel Class-D amp and a 4 channel DSP. Was hoping to use them in my '24 G42 w/the HiFi system.

I already bought the Technic add-a-sub harness, so thought I could use the 2 channels of high level from the harness to go into the DSP (it accepts both hi and lo input). Then send low level RCA out of the DSP into the 4-channel amp. Then use the first 2 channels from the amp to power the under seat woofers and then the last 2 channels bridged to run a small, 8" sub in a ported box.

Will use the DSP to send the correct frequencies to each of the correct channels on the amp.

Just want to use this equipment for a while since I already have it. I can then save up to do a different upgrade later...and...get some use out of the existing gear (only had the previous car about a year).

It should work, though i am not sure how much the factory subs under the seats can handle. If you’re only after bass then you may be better off just getting a larger sub for your trunk and power it well enough to get the desired bass. I run a single 12” Sundown SA12 in a ported enclosure on 1,000 watts and it is way more than enough.

I'm assuming you have the base model stereo ? Same here. And it's terrible.

Please document everything you do so you can help the rest of us figure out how to add an amp to the mids / highs / and 'subwoofers'.

The current plug and play amps that are currently available are like $1k. That's way too much just to beef up the sound a bit

Well...I wussed out and instead just hooked up a Stetsom DSP, a 2CH Class D 400Wx1 amp (not the 4 channel amp I thought I was going to use), and then the 8" sub. I left the stock amp to power all the stock speakers in the HiFi system.

I had issues trying to get other powered LOC's to work before using the DSP instead. It works great for my purposes of converting high level to low level and then feeding the amp. Will try messing around the settings on the DSP, but, it sounds so much better now with some bump in the trunk. LOL
