From X4 to M240?

Well as the title implies I currently own a 2023 X4 30i and thinking of trading it for a new m240i I don’t use the back seats too often, I am just worried about the convenience of the M240 as daily driver, the comfort in uneven roads and the ground clearance. Any comment wil be highly appreciated .

I've owned a M240i X-drive since 2022. I use mine as a daily with no issues whatsoever. I live in Pennsylvania. Our roads are notoriously poor. We get cold winters and hot summers and that takes its tool on road surfaces. For a "sport coupe" and when in comfort mode, I never feel uncomfortable. Even in Sport Plus, the ride is not intrusive or jarring, and I'm 72.

I've never had an issue with ground clearance and that includes speed bumps.

In late 2025, I plan on ordering another M240i. I guess that says it all. I love driving mine and I'm sure you will as well.

imho if you ever use back seats for anything other than children i'd probably avoid the g42.
otherwise the car is a great daily across the board.

I've had no issues with daily duties or weekend trips in my M240i. Ground clearance isn't an issue unless you put a front lip on, then you would have to be more careful. I came from an M340i and the only real loss is usable backseats. If you don't need the backseats, you'll be fine.

I went from a X3M40i to the M240 xDrive. The M240 is a great daily vehicle and feels way lighter, handles more flat, is more responsive on throttle, and the turn in is more faster than the X3. Fuel economy is better as well when not at full throttle. As others have mentioned, the backseat is of minimal use and only works for small children, but still a pain. The trunk is a decent size given the size of the vehicle. Basically no negatives outside of a minimally useful backseat.

ID7 was much better than ID8. No buttons and lack of direct climate control access is a big fail. This is the main thing I miss about the X3 outside of the occasional time I could use a proper backseat.

I agree with you on ID7...is really a sticking point with me on pulling the trigger on another new BMW..lack of buttons/everything buried in the touch screen....but getting another 2 series is sure tempting (as I miss the previous '19 230i xDrive!)

About to enter third winter as a daily driver. Car is completely stock, and I have had no issues with anything the OP mentioned. Rear seat access is kind of a pain with the slow motor speed to move the front seats.

Really love this as my daily driver!

Thank you all! The decision has been taken. I’m going for the M240!
