Honestly I prefer to use the appropriate to your device cigarette lighter USB fast charger. The USB C port is not capable of performing any kind of fast charging if I recall correctly.

Speaking of charging through cigarette lighter, will using the cigarette lighter for a battery tender work? Quick look at owners manual says they do not recommend plugging battery chargers in the lighter socket, but is a battery tender’s output low enough to be safe? I have used the lighter port for battery tender in a prior-owned Porsche with no issues.

Forget charging a phone, you need to have a radar detector powered through the cig lighter so you can really get on it.

Also, there is an additional USB-A port by the cup holders. Haven't tried using that port yet in my '25 M2. |

The lighter is only how when the car is awake. It's been like that for more than a decade with BMWs. Connect either under the hood or wherever the battery is.

Just wanted to add the 12V car charging port, at least in the 6MT version I own, generally means you can't close the lid of that area if you have a charger + cable plugged in. May depend on the form factor of what you're trying to do though. What I did was get a magsafe wireless vent mount that uses USB-C and ran the cord into the USB-C port in the armrest console.
