Maed pagnetic paddle shifters, a quick review.
Hey all,
Just swapped out the stock paddles in my ‘25 for these ones from Maed and wanted to share a couple things. Overall I really like them, but be advised the turn stalk gets in the way of sneaking a finger between the two when in a 9/3 position on the wheel. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of. I have relatively thin fingered hands and could imagine it being a real problem for someone with bigger hands. Install was easyish, use a flat head to pop the airbag out (tried using a hex bit and failed repeatedly) and watch for the tiny clips on the paddle connection (they require a pin to be pushed in). I bought this car on a whim because of how much the dash resembled my sim racing rig I ran through the pandemic. Magnetic paddles really add to that feeling and I am glad I took the time and money to upgrade. Endorsed with that one small caveat. Last edited by nerdthewise; 12-07-2024 at 07:01 PM.. |

One other thing I’ll note after a short drive:
The immediacy and tactility of these paddles makes me much more aware of shift speeds and I found anything less than the ‘tier III fast shifts’ felt silly and overly slow. Also, they are very audible throughout the cabin in use - click, clack. Not an issue for most but something to be aware of, you’ll hear it over music. |

I have these sitting brand new in a box, waiting for me to install them.
I’ve been somewhat undecided and may sell them super cheap. Let me know if anyone is interested.

nerdthewise How are these actually different than the OEM paddle shifters? I also own a sim racing rig (used for multiple races per week, so still actively using it) with a paddle shift Fanatec rim (https://fanatec.com/us-en/steering-w...ring-wheel-wrc)
Just curious how the "feel is better" for these paddles vs. the OEM one and how it would compare to my WRC wheel (if you have any thoughts on that).

They are magnetic and completely linear, if you like the snappiness of magnetic shifter I’d wager you’ll like these. Night and day difference in feel for me. They are also metal throughout (OEM is plastic backed CF). Side benefit: they are a little bigger and easier to grab from positions other than 9/3
That said, there is little to no functional gain. But it makes me feel fast. |

My jqwerks magnetic paddles are sitting in a box on my porch right now...
The idea behind the magnetic paddles is mostly to remove the mushiness of the stock paddles, totally subjective but I find the persistent force of pushing the stock paddles to be obnoxious. Ironically, the best stock paddle feel I have felt in a paddle shifter? current gen Acura MDX lol

Installed my jqwerks tonight. Very easy install, don't bother to remove the steering wheel idk why any video says to do that. Airbag off, magnetic screwdriver, remove the oem paddles and screw on the new ones. I was done in 20 mins battery to battery.
I silenced the snap back on paddles with some grip tape... fine to click on pull but not on recall.

Sitting in a shop right now waiting on another install and they have the jqworks option. Side by side they are far and away the better buy and are adjustable, so the finger bite issue with the turn stalk won’t be a problem. The Maed set has also developed a squeak in the meantime as well. I bought a set of the jqworks and will install them tomorrow, if anyone wants to try the Maed set I am happy to let them go at a discount.
