Power seat bolsters with sensatec or not?

Sorry guys for the questions. Standard features in the 230i per BMW are power seat bolsters even with sensatec interiors. Then I came across this video of a 2025 230i where the reviewer states that one must order the leather interior for the power seat bolsters.

I ordered the same color combo but with the dynamic handling package instead of the premium package. Starting at 3.30 time point.

Standard features on the 230i per BMW’s website. It is a little rectangular button that allows for the adjustment of the side bolsters.

“Power front sport seats including 2-way power side bolsters, manual headrests and thigh support, and memory system for driver's seat and exterior mirror positions”

Not lumbar. I added that. The lumbar adjustment is a round button. There is also a small rectangular button for the power side bolster.

I was told you could only get side bolster adjustment with Vernasca leather . I prefer the sensatec but did get the lumber adjustment as an upgrade.

That could be the case too.

After watching a few videos it does appear that the side bolstering is only available with the Vernasca Leather seats. Here is one I found. He explains this at around 3:15. I know it's a M240i but it should be applicable. Another deceiving description from the BMW build site.

Even with the leather, the adjustable bolsters are only on the driver's seat

BMW has changed this before so there is no telling what you will actually get. When I ordered my '24 M240i in July '23, the power lumbar support was optional for the driver's seat (only) in either leather or sensatec for US$175. I ordered the leather and it came with power lumbar on both seats. Go figure.

The power side bolsters came standard only on the leather and only on the driver seat but nowhere could I find anything in the description about this and the dealer was clueless. I only knew about it from pictures and some cars that I test drove. Mine did get delivered with this feature on the driver's seat. I thought I would use it but have yet to do so. If I track the car I might use this feature.

I know all of this changed from the '22 to the '23 & '24MY so there is no telling what a '25 MY will come with. And I doubt your CA could tell you. My dealer was clueless about most of this. I had to order and cross my fingers that I would get the power side bolsters because the dealer said no way they would come on the car - they were wrong. They also had no clue about the rumored 48V mild hybrid. They told me since the M340i had it that mine would likely have it. Mine thankfully did not.

It would be interesting to measure the non-power bolsters width and the power bolsters narrowest width.

I didn't even know about this and haven't really felt my bolsters to be lacking.

I'm tall and skinny so I feel like I would have liked to get the power bolsters if I had the choice, but I also wouldn't have picked anything other than cognac.

I have enjoyed the bolster adjustments on prior 3 series but for me the adjustment was minimal to make it feel a little more snug . For me it was not worth the upgrade to vernasca to get side bolster adjustment and I prefer sensatec anyway . Seems like this should be included when you upgrade to lumbar support. Maybe for MY2026.

I am fine with the fake leather so decided to pass on the power seat bolster. I have power seat bolsters for both the seatbacks and seat cushions in my Boxster 25 which are very nice but that's a sports car and not a sporty coupe like the 230i I ordered.
