MSRP increase 1/1/25?

Was negotiating an order a couple days ago and my dealer advised that BMW in the US is increasing MSRP in January 2025 and because they don't have an allocation right now (but are confident they will in January) that the base MSRP of a g87 m2 will be $600 higher when my order is placed. They are willing to negotiate off this price but still, I wanted to fact check this with those in the know.

Google has shown an announced mid-year increase in India but nothing in the US. I found a post from 22 about 1/1/23 increases but I would have thought this would be in the public domain if known....

Related to this - if there is a price increase: for what orders does it take effect? Only those received after the increase date? All cars not yet delivered by this date? Not yet produced? Etc. The dealer is saying that (ignoring their markup margin THEY will pay BMW $600 more for a Janaury build slot. True?

BMW typically will honor original prices if you have an allocation, no matter when the car is built. My i4 was built a year late and there was a price increase on both the base and some options. They had the dealer honor original contract price.

You don't actually have an order until you have an allocation and order number.

Confirmed. Price increase takes effect in U.S. January 1 for all models, equal to 1% of base MSRP. Assume it would be for vehicles completing production after that date, though bulletin didn't specify IIRC.

If you already have a production number before that date, when the car is delivered ask the dealer to call BMW to honor original price.

Yeah, so think if you have a production number prior to this date (me) the price should be what they were when the allocation or production date was achieved but ai say this for selfish reasons lol.

I recently got an allocation this past week (currently at status 111) and my order base price sent to me by the dealer was also bumped up by the $600. Should I ask my dealer to adjust this?

I just specced a 2025 the same way I
specced my 2024 when I bought it and it costs $2,430 more now. That’s not including the price increase of the MP HAS I had port-installed. In total, almost $3,000 more for a mild LCI. That’s a bit much.

Where I'm getting y car from they have said they will honor the price iny.first VIR. I signed a deal with a non refundable deposit. So we have a contract on price. I can't walk away without losing my money so they won't increase the price.

Increasing the price puts them in breach.
If you have already placed a deposit and got a new price after the deposit was made you can argue.

If you haven't put down a deposit and you not have a written agreement, the price just went up $600.

You need to have your name on an order in the BMW system (that means on a car in 111/112) prior to the announcement of the price increase to dealers to be eligible for a price protection from BMW NA.

And if you just got your name one one in status 111, it's already a February production.

The dealer should honor original price.
You need to mention it to them.

I believe this is correct.

I just ordered this past Saturday on a February allocation, which means the car should go into production in February and the SA I dealt with said that I'm on the hook for any price changes from the manufacturer until the car is finished.

If your car was always a January production, you aren't going to get support from BMW.

Qualifying Vehicles:
• MY25 confirmed allocation before Jan 2025 production allocation.
• Priority 1 status (customer ordered with valid customer name and valid customer email address)
on or before Nov 20, 2024.
• Customer’s name on the order at the time of bulletin C4-US-V-1-1124-14 MUST match the
customer’s name on the RDR.

If your original VIR stated the old price then the old price should be honored. The VIR is the order to the factory/BMW AG.

My VIR which is dated Dec 18 has the old price.

My VIR which is dated Dec 20 has the confirmed individual build and new price.

I have a contract with a $3000 non-refundable deposit. I have been told that they will honor the price and with talk to BMW. They said, they will eat it if they have to. But I have a contract and unilateral changes to contracts are a breach.

What needs to happen for a customer to request an exemption? BMWNA?
