Question Am close to purchasing 2025 M240i but then this used 2024 M2 shows up

I've been in the market for a new 2025 M240i since August and was close to purchasing/ordering one at a dealer nearby, but then discovered a used 2024 M2 automatic that they have on their lot (see attached pdf).

They say it was a demo that one of the dealership owners drove for a short period of time before putting it back into their inventory to sell. MSRP $68,950 now listed at $64,577. Thoughts?

It really depends on what you were going to build as a M240.

Is this car the color you want/like?
What about options?
With 500 miles it's still new. 6% off is pretty good.

How much was the 240 optioned out.
You don't get 360 cameras with any M2.

I can't call it.

If you look hard enough around here you can figure out how to get 6% off a brand new M2 and actually be able to select your own configuration.

AND not have to be subject to a shitty automatic transmission in a rear wheel drive sports car.

Pass.

If you like the spec go for it. The others who posted aren't paying for the car you are.

I haven't found out how to get 6% off the car from any broker and there were no allocations in my region. My dealer got one allocation and that was it. In Northern CA, there are exactly 10 allocations with 11 dealers in a 50 mile radius.

I was #2 at my dealer and after waiting close to 6 months I found a broker with an allocation for an ordered car at MSRP.

OP, buy the car you want.
Nobody has to drive it but you.

If you like the configuration, get it.

Hey there. That’s at Bill Jacobs in Naperville, right? They offered it to me yesterday for $63,750, FYI. I thought it was a little shady because they knew I was looking at the new ‘25 rather than this used ‘24. Could’ve been an honest mistake, I suppose. Anyways, know that $63,750 is definitely available and maybe better. Good luck with your hunt!

Ignore all the static here regarding moonroofs, options, etc. and get the car that best suits you.

It’s not complicated.

Go for an M2 but get it in the spec that you want. I had an M240i prior to my M2 and I was trying to make it perform like an M2 but they're just not the same. There is something very different and special with a full M car.

The price seems like a fair asking price for that car but someone should be able to buy it for cheaper. However, you could order a 2025 (with limited add ons) and get close to that price.

Definitely can get cheaper. I have a 2025 on order getting around 6% off.

But at the same time if you want it then go for it. Use the fact that the 2025 is out and technically it is a used car. I think if it's under 1000 they can call it new which is dumb. If the spec is good try to get some off and if you think it's worth the price do it.

There are a few brokers floating around the entire forum. Reach out and see what they can do.

depending on your priorities and needs, i myself went to the S58 engine from a B58 and i do miss the better fuel economy especially when stuck in traffic and my FC goes up so fast. for street driving the stock B58 will be more than enough.

But the M-lites will never feel as special as the full fat Ms. i dont care how hard M-lite owners try to rationalize or the mods they throw into it.

whatever you do choose, just make sure you like the spec. even my sales guy told me not to settle for one i might regret later.

Happy shopping

I recently traded in my M2 and got into an suv. I thought I would be fine with an X5 M50i. The sales guy on the test drive told me that I was going to regret leaving an M car for the X5 M50i. He then had me drive an X5M Comp and I'm so glad he pushed me on this. I was trying to rationalize that the M lite suv was going to be enough. No regrets going with the M comp despite the slightly higher price point.

I could not agree more on your opinion to not settle on something.

I think thats great advice as long as you can afford it. Not everyone can afford an X5M, however, the M2 is in a price range that is much more attainable to many people.

Looks like a good spec. People saying "crappy automatic" just don't know what they're talking about. Price is good, and it's available. Sure you can try to find an allocation somewhere with a dealer who's willing to sell below MSRP, but these cars aren't readily available.

I was in the same boat last year and found my M2 with 473 miles on it locally & the dealer gave me exactly what I wanted for my 330e I was trading. I didn't get as much of a discount as you are, but there were no other cars available with the specs I wanted.

And as long as it hasn't been titled, it's still new. It qualifies for new car finance rates & the warranty/maintenance plan should start when you purchase.

Good point. I bought a used 2020 with only 8k miles and it wasn't much more than my M2 sticker price. A new X5M is more than I'm comfortable spending.

Wow, that sounds like a geat deal! I fell in love with a 25 M# Comp awd, man I want this car, but at $98500 it was more than I was comfortable spending so I get where you're coming from there.

I'd take the M2 over the M240. Its a better car and will depreciate a lot less than the M240 (which will drop like a rock) so in the long term, the M2 will actually be cheaper to own and you'll get to own a M car.
