Question 2018 1 Series Difficult to find part

Hi, I would welcome any ideas on the part number for this mystery part.

I got in my car today and just as I pulled away, the frosted plastic cover for the dimmable rear view mirror fell out, hit the cup holders and the clips snapped off. It covers the red LED which flashes when the alarm is armed.

I can’t see to find anywhere what the part number is for it. Quite surprised it fell out as they seem really sturdy but it’s been -4 here for a couple of days so assuming it is to do with the cold weather as I have not driven the car in 4-5 days.

I have attached to this photo two photos of what the thing looks like for reference. Thanks in advance.

I highly doubt you'll find it as a part by itself. Likely to be part of a mirror "assembly".

If it won't glue in without being ugly, you'll probably want to start looking for mirrors on ebay and hoping they're in better shape. Disassemble a mirror to get the part or just replace it altogether. Maybe you can find one with a garage door opener if you don't have that already.

Do you even have an alarm?
Looks like your "clown nose" is black, not the red that comes with the alarm.

Are they red? I don't actually know for sure. The one on my X3 is clear, but the 1-ers could be different. Mine didn't have it.

If there are one or two clips left I would use some contact cement (aka rubber cement) and glue back into place.

***This. Rubber cement or other types of cement can fix this problem easily. Other kinds of cement have been used by the mob for years to fix other kinds of problems with the same degree of permanence.

It hasn’t been red for quite some time. Not since the E9x. The flashing LED is red.

It’s supposed to be grey. You don’t have a manually changed mirror do you? I’m pretty sure that’s not a thing anymore. Quite unusual circumstance and I’m sure it’s related to the cold. Did you touch it or make contact with it in some way? Back in the day when manual mirrors were still a thing you would change the mirror from day to night by twisting the clown nose.

Thanks, will see if I can find some rubber cement. I had no idea these couldn't be replaced. Seems very wasteful to have to buy an entire mirror for a small piece of plastic. I am surprised Aliexpress or similar don't do them.

Thanks, what was the link in the bit above where you put "this is your answer"? It isn't showing.

Also sorry forgot to say, no didn't touch it. It had been a very cold week. Got in the car, drove off and all of a sudden it just dropped off, hit the gear stick area and one of the pieces broke off. I managed to find the broken piece. It is SOOOOO small.

i think can glued back with cyanacrylat glue without issue, because it is plastic
otherwise there are plenty of the mirrors on ebay, because they are not failing
so you can get another used one for 30-50 GBP

Not familiar with the F20 here in the USA, so what indicates that your alarm is active if not the flashing "clown nose"?
