G42 M240i xDrive Autocross

Last time I was using the stock staggered 225/255 setup with Michelin PS4S tires. Felt very understeery but glues to the ground really well. Most of the issues I had were from overdriving the car and braking too late.

This time I was too lazy to take off my all season tires (use them for road tripping to snowy areas) and it felt totally different. Obviously, there is much less grip and the car still weighs the same, but with the square setup (245 all around) the car felt much "lighter" even though the performance was maybe 10-15% less than a stickier high performance summer tire. It's not quite RWD, but it feels much more exciting being able to induce some rotation with the throttle compared to the previous setup.

Nice, have you done anything suspension wise?

Camber plates could help the under steer feeling. I’m getting the Millway street camber plate for a trackday soon and will report back

Stock 225/255 with Michelin P4S, I thought they only come with ZTK? Is this just a tire updraft from factory to non tu flat? ZTK 245/255 setup which is negligible staggering and should be similar to you 4 season setup in feel but with more grip. Many commenter said the ZTK was behaving better also improved the time in motor trend hot lap vs previous year they did without the ZTK.

Front tire should be at least 245 if not more on this car since the front is heavy. I wish there was a 255/265 setup that would fit xdrive. Some will say you ca run it but I prefer to stay within the “urban legend” of 1% variance.

They came with Pirellis which I sold. One of them was destroyed by a pothole and I used that as an excuse for the switch. Decent tires but the PS4S are definitely a bit stickier.

nice going. I agree with the car being somewhat understeery and its pretty easy to overdrive it. Here's one of my videos from my last session last year:

This was on 225s, I got a set of Apex wheels so will switch to either 255 or 265 square setup for the upcoming year.
