Turner Carbon Fiber G87 Front Lip DIY Install Photo Thread
Super easy to do. No drilling. I only used the 4 OEM mounts and screws they supply. Used hand tools only after pulling onto low profile ramps. I’m max low on MPHAS and had clearance to work just fine. 12mm spacers for those interested in that.
The four screws you remove look kind of like wood screws but the ones you replace them with are silver with finer thread. I was hesitant it would work but it did just fine. I pealed back some tape and threaded everything a tad so that the tape was able to be pulled off once I snugged up the screws. Super easy. Fitment is perfection and the quality is absolutely OEM. Looks incredible. OEM+ is exactly the look I was going for. One of the end screws is snug but keeps turning so I might redo that one with some lock tight but otherwise this was one of the easiest installs with a great end result. If I could do it again I’d have remembered to alcohol prep the surface and probably warm up the tape with a hair dryer before the final screw tightening. But my car is so new and clean I wasn’t thinking about how to have the best possible adhesion. It really feels solid. The kit comes with some self tapping screws as well but I don’t think they are needed and not sure where I would use them for best result so I just put them aside. Pics below! |

Thanks for the pics, it looks really nice!
re. screws, it looks like in your 4th picture there are 4 black screws that have coarse threads, much like the original screws but longer? Could it be those are meant to replace the OEM screws instead of the fine thread ones? |

Still seems reasonable so I think I’ll be ok but only time will tell. I’m in Ohio so it’s relatively flat and I only drive this car in good weather. I’ll definitely be watching out for speed bumps and driveways to take it at an angle. Last edited by Mikesbimmer; 03-01-2025 at 07:13 PM.. |

Re: screws. I am guessing that they provided both types, cos depending if you have a skid plate installed you would pick the appropriate set. Turner has a skid plate that replaces the OE bumper black screws with stainless steel screws/bolts. If you were using their skid plate, you could use these longer stainless steel bolts to secure the lip to it. If I were using the stock plastic plate, I’d go with the black bmw screws Turner provided. There is also a hole at the 2 far ends of the lip. Did you check if the OE bumper rivets fit that hole? I’m still curious if 4-6 oem screw/rivet points is enough to secure the lip. It looks great, but worried it could loosen under high speed driving. Also wish they provided installation instructions, instead of leaving customers to guess. Check out CT carbon. Think the design and weave could be a good match. They had a good 20% sale back in Dec, fingers crossed they have discounts soon. Last edited by motorknut; 02-28-2025 at 10:36 PM.. |
