Honda s2000 or C5 Corvette?
I was wondering which car you people here would preffer and why. I personally would rather have a Honda s2000 due to it's drivers car nature, fun factor, slick shifting 6 speed and I feel it overall is one of the best pure sports cars built in regard to feedback, manners and feel. My friend begs to differ though, he says the s2000 is too slow and indeed MORE of a midlife crisis car than the C5 Corvette. I feel however that how fast the car is not a priority when deciding on what car is better overall.
I have had a significant amount of seat time in both of them and while I appreciate the power of an LS1 over that of the s2000 I feel that overall the s2000 is the better car. Pick one and tell us why. Honda s2000 Chevrolet Corvette (C5)

Well if power doesn't matter to you, then go for a S2k, reasons:
-Honda reliability -more of a driver oriented car (why else do you think they made All S2K M/T) -better MPG -AP1 redlines @ 9k -lots of mods -you can get them pretty cheap now...well same could be said for the C5 Corvettes you can see them almost everywhere, and GM hasn't stop producing them, as for the S2k, sadly Honda discontinued them |

C5 - black with aftermarket HIDs in the pop ups
my reason: i think it just looks that much better than the S2000 i have not driven an S2000, but i drove a z06 and it was surprisingly very comfortable. But yes.. unfortunately the interior is s%%t

I would take the S2000. I've always been a Honda fan and the S2000 was one of those cars that really show what Honda is capable of when it gets it shit together. But now they axed it with no replacement.

You sure about that? EPA ratings are 19/28 for the C5 'Vette and 20/25 for the S2000( using the old EPA testing numbers since that is the method these vehicles were tested under and was shown on the sticker window back in 2004).

I would go for the 'Vette because to me, nothing beats a Chevy Small Block V8 and the C5 also does the corners decently. |

I dont think you'll find a more fun than a S2000 without spending considerably more money.
There are few cars that most owners regret getting rid of a car. The S2000 is one. FYI: I got about 25-27mpg in my 2003 S2000 (this is with me redlining it a couple of times a day). I drove the lil car like i stole it, and it never let me down. |

S2000 for sure. It's more of a drivers car and plus, as you said, you don't care about speed. However, don't let that fool you, the s2000 is still pretty quick. As lyndon said, I terribly regret selling my s2000 and always want to hop back into one. Some on the s2000 forum are on their 4th s2000.

I have an '05 S2000 and it is an awesome second car. Mine is supercharged, running about 8lbs of boost along with a number of other "upgrades" and numerous track days. It has never been back to the dealer for anything. It's been flawless.
I'm not sure I would want to only have the S as a DD, in stock form you can't just upshift in traffic the way you normally would and expect there to be any torque without downshifting at least 2 gears. It forces you to be engaged. Shifter in the S makes me almost the shift action in my new 335. There's alot to be said for the torque and rumble from a domestic V8, but at the end of the day, unless you are trying to build a specific type of car and need a 'Vette platform, after the novelty wore off I can't see a C5 being that interesting to own and drive. Could be a pretty potent project car though. |

I'm guessing you meant to say the shifter in S makes me almost "dislike" the shift action in my new 335. If that is what you meant, i will agree with you. I've driven a lot of cars, but i've never driven a car with a better stick and tranny. That is why i think the complaints of low torque are a little overstated. If you need more torque, just step on the gas and downshift. In day to day driving, you can past most cars easily in 6th gear. For times that you need more umph, downshift to 3rd or 4th and redline the lil engine.

If you want raw power, C5 is the way to go. If you want a fun car and save $$$, S2000 is the way to go.

S2000 = Japanese quality/reliability, more nimble and fun to drive, better looking (one of the best looking verts out there), one of the best shifters, cooler name (s2000), and one of the most precise handling cars on the road.
I wish I could of got it, but it only has 2 seats.... |

People are able to fit awesome wheel and tire set-ups under this platform and are really tearing it up at Auto-x and the track.

Don't worry, I was a gripy bitch when i first got my e90. I think i offended some people when i complained about the shifter feel. I got a short shifter that helped, but it is still NO WHERE CLOSE to the feel of the shifter in the S. When sitting in traffic, i would put my foot on the clutch and just shift through the gears while sitting still. And this was after having the car for 5 years. A voodoo shifter on the S is heaven. I wish my house had a 3 car garage. If it did, i'd get rid of the e90 and pick up a 2003 maxima and another AP1.
