BMW e39 with a Toyota Supra engine under the hood
http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009...om-jersey.aspx
The other day we got an email from our buddy Ernie Manasala at NOS Energy Drink. Seeing how it's BMW month, Ernie wanted to share a couple photos of some BMW's built by his older brother Mike at E-Shift Performance in New Jersey. As you'll note from the opening shot, these aren't quite your typical "Euro" Bimmers... First is the stunning E39 M5 (a real one?!) that looks pretty normal on the outside... ...but under the hood is a Toyota 2JZGTE with a single turbo conversion. Shhh... I think you can hear the purists groaning. If that wasn't enough, they've also built a matching E36 two door. Like the E39, it also has a big turbine 2JZ under the hood. Both of the engine bays look immaculate!

thats badass. 2jz is a sick engine. that m5 is prob one of the best looking bmw's ever. it's a good combination. the swap must have been a pain in the ass. although i'd still probably take a souped up supra over that m5, that m5 is just plain awesome.
and wow, look at some of the comments from the dumb shits on that discussion board: Quote:

That 2JZ-GTE is what, 20 years old now? Still amazing what it can handle!
Kinda weird in a Bimmer but nonetheless badass.

I love what they have done!
that motor trumps the s52 by a mile as well as the M5 v8.....the M5 v8 is however one hell of an engine.

2JZ is a simple formula:
Cast iron block originally designed for a diesel engine = strong as fuk + Inline 6 = perfect balance + Decent flowing head + Insane amounts of boost = ridiculous horsepower

They should have read the important little information on Wikipedia before they said that stuff... "Final development of the 2JZ-GTE was outsourced to German engineering firm Johann A. Krause Maschinenfabrik GmbH" |

word to the wise - most entires on Wikipedia.com are misinformation to begin with, or lack too much detail to actually be accurate, useful information. anyone and everyone (including the misinformed) can add and edit information posted on Wiki. that is not to say that the particular bit of info you pointed out is inaccurate - its not. just be weary of what you read on Wiki...
