It's probably bc Top Gear USA starts up soon on the History Channel. Either that or bc the Stig(white suit) has a tell all book that comes out soon in the UK.

Well, BBC America have been airing the last 4 or 5 seasons on a regular basis although they chop em up a bit to squeeze into the hour.
Netflix has (at least) seasons 9,10 11,12,13 and 14 in full so you can stream them to your TV/laptop and you can download every episode ever made (almost) from www.finalgear.com There have been 15 seasons of the show in its current format which started in 2002. Top Gear however goes back to 1978. The US version will certainly suck although I hope it doesn't.

I think the US version of TG will be a good car show provided that you don't try to compare it to the UK version. The UK version is IMO the greatest car show ever made....

TG Australia + TG Russia have both failed...as a long time fan (only modern format) I honestly hope that the show's production can make the most out of the US' car heritage+culture. The one commercial I saw didn't help my optimisim--one of the presenters flooring a panamera and acting surprised at something an e60 m5 could do 20 mph better 6 years ago...lets just hope the presenters can at least appear honest in their opinions. On a side note, a series road trip to the UK to mock all their traffic habits and 320d's would be quite entertaining... |

No, I think it will be the foul smelling product of a committee of TV marketeers. The magic of Tog Gear is the chenistry of the three characters. You can't reproduce that in a committee, but you can ape the format and thank that will work.

That and the BBC's government funding which allows car companies almost no influence in the outcome of the show, just good, honest and meaningful reviews
As soon as it becomes commercial/public tv, as in australia and russia, the influence of certain companies becomes obvious and degrading to the honesty of the show. |
