Ordered the new car, the wait begins

2007 Corvette, Black w/Ebony, 3LT, NAV, Onstar, Transparent roof. Build time is 5-6 weeks so I should get it on or around my birthday. T-minus 42 days and counting....

It will be a sad drive taking the M3 on it's last trip but I can't wait to drive the Vette home.

I've already ordered a couple of mods for it that should take it into the 440-450 HP range. My goal is to hit a sub 4 0-60 and that should get me real close if not all the way there.

As it stands right now no, but it depends on whether or not I can get my M3 sold before the car goes into production. If I have to trade it in, then I have to drive it to the dealership (it's out of state in the wrong direction) so it would be too much trouble to do that and go to Bowling Green to get the car.

I have can get it sold in the next week or two then I'm going to update the order to do the museum delivery.

I tossed around the idea of getting one before I ordered the 335. I should have at least gone for a test drive.

There really is nothing like massive amounts of torque combined with hp. When it's something you've never driven it's a totally new experience, but I have and I love torque.

My aunt has an '02(i believe) with the windshield readout and it's badass. I know they've also gotten 29mpg driving to alabama at a constant 75mph.

Did they not have any on the lot, I see hundreds here? Oh, let me guess, only autos on the lot.

Congrats.

Thanks. Everything on the lot right now is either a base 1LT model or a maxed out 3LT (alot of them with autos) and nothing in-between.

There's a cool tool at www.jeffhardy.com where you can pick the specs you're looking for and it will check every dealer in the country for it and return a list of what lot they are on. Right now there are exactly zero Corvette's sitting on a lot with the config I wanted, so in goes the order. I wanted NAV and the base wheels and suspension because I plan on doing other things later and that was the killer. Just about everything on the lots has chrome wheels and that's $1800 of wasted money to me.

Unforunately the site is currently under construction, so I can't check it out. When getting a Chevy with a V8 it's almost impossbile to leave it alone since you can do so much for almost next to nothing. I'd definately throw some Borla or Corsa cat-back on it. My cousin had a '98 Z28 with Corsa, headers, cut-outs, and a cam and I believe a few more things, but it was the absolute best sounding Z I had ever heard in my life.

Check out this Corsa link. Click on the Z06 with Katech mods. Unreal.

Even though the page says under construction the link is on the page in the last sentence.

Cool link for the Z06, thanks.

Me too.

To be honest, I'm actually looking forward to driving the Corvette and having drivers leave me alone. In the M3 at least once a day some idiot is beside me trying to "race" and see what the car will do. Not that is doesn't happen to Vette drivers, but the frequency appears to be less.

transparent roof? huh O_O i guess ill have to go look at that

i saw a episode of something on speed, they built a c6 with twin turbos on it

but get this, the turbos were mounted IN THE BACK of the car inplace of the mufflers!!! so basically they got to intake all cold air in since its nowhere near the engine, combine that with the cooling of the air on the way to the turbos and on the way back to the engine and the thing was making over 500hp w/ one hell of a sound

kinda made me a little jelouse

i agree with couch, i should have atleast test drove it, i just heard so many bad things about them falling appart cuz there american cars ect (probably not true i know) and i assumed the interior was a little sparce?

i just couldnt really picture myself in a corvette either

but im still kind of jelouse

There are 2 custom Vette's up at the shop where I get my m3 worked on. One is a Z06 twin turbo putting out around 700HP and a C6 twin turbo putting out around 600HP. Both black and both are nasty machines.

As far as the interior goes, is it up to BMW, Porsche levels? No. Does it do what I need it to and have good heated seats, HUD and other useful options, yep. Plus it has it's own "Comfort Access" that's free.

First mod - Momo racing steering wheel; second mod a new shifter knob (if you have manual) The rest is OK.
