some of them it seems like the flash was set a little too bright, it's making it look like she's photo shopped into the background,(only a couple shots) but otherwise i'm really liking the shots and the girl.
I was a little dissappointed when i first clicked on this thread and the first picture showed her covered in the beach dress.... Thought to self.... "she better lose that by the next picture, or i'm gonna be really upset!!!" Great shoot, let's see more !!! |

Hey secretsquirrel, it's the Einstein with a VML. That's a 22" PCB Beauty dish lol. a PLM is much larger lol. I like the BD because it's easier to handle at the beach. I do not own the PLM so I cannot comment, but out of reviews I've read, they're great and versatile.

I like the lighting even with her back to the sun but on some of the shots (2,4,5,8) there is junk in the background taking away from her.
I think those blacks look really great on her.

Cancerous growths on her right arm and that big black blob over her nice black bottom. On some of those I think not using F9 would have been better.
I don't shoot models, I'd get really confused, or stare.

Hey Weebl... as in the Weebl from youtube? Love their songs. The reason for the small aperture is I do not own a ND stopper. There is a sync limitation on strobes.

how about removing the birds? they are distracting me from her body a little.... I find my eye drawn to them, which is a shame because she's pretty fantastic, and it's a great shot.

they do look good as part of the picture, but they do distract i find. I think it's a personal preference thing, but she's the main subject. Just personal preference
I'll take them out in the copy i put in my special folder just kidding. |

Yup, Weebl and Bob, named the car Weebl.
I like the birds in the background in #2 but the rocks on the right bug me. Square crop??? If the rock on her right in #4 shoulder growth were lower, I wouldn't notice it ;-) as much. Notice I didn't mention anything in #7. It looks like a growth in #4. The F stop comment was for #5, model right at head height are those palms and trees. Too much DOF imho. I understand what you were limited by though. Knock them down in clarity in PP? All those dark rocks over her back and butt in #8 are making me look away from her. Maybe a slight angle change or different lighter color bottom (or none ;-) ) might make a difference. The rocks and bottom color match. Just an opinion and worth a lot less than what you paid for it.

idk what these guys are saying about junk in the background...to me, it just adds depth and makes each photo unique and dimensional. I see many portrait photos clearly distinguishing subject and background but you capture the whole environment well.
nice work! |
