Currently have Cablevision and use iO to rent movies. Looking to switch to Netflix because $7.99/month gets you unlimited movie streaming which clearly seems to be the better deal as opposed to iO with a fee of $4.95 per rental. We would be using the Apple TV to stream since it is only $99 and extremely portable.

How is the movie selection via streaming on Netflix compared to RedBox or iO? Good, bad, decent? Should I just stick with iO?

not worth it. got both and I rarely use netflix anymore. All the titles are old and the good movies are only on DVD

I thought the movie selection on Netflix is terrible. Ended up cancelling it all together after the price hike.

Netflix movies are comparable to HBO movies.

Its what I currently use. I'm always behind on movies so I never notice a delay in what's avail to stream.

i have both and like them. i use it more for shows than movies but i use my iphone as a remote and can stream video and music from my laptop or iphone to my TV. even without netflix i would get an apple tv

Have been without cable TV for two years and completely happy with just Apple TV, Netflix, and regular antenna.

I rip every Netflix DVD and Airplay to my TV. Legal or not, its the only way I can watch DVDs in the living room.

Was messing around on my cousin's netflix this past weekend and agree that the selection leaves much to be desired IMO

Same, I ditched Netflix streaming with the price hike and am back to mail only. Streaming content is awful and the navigation is even worse. I do pay for BD discs and use my PS3 for those but rip regular DVD's and Airplay those. For $100, the Apple TV is fine and if you're already using iOS it interfaces nicely.

Alright so the general consensus is that Netflix streaming blows, lol. Might as well stick with buying BD discs when they come out like I have been.

What about just having Apple TV by itself for the other features? Worth having for $100 or fuck it?

Check out Roku. Cost the same and I think has more features. $100 bucks is a good deal for either one. I would use it on a second TV (with hulu plus) in a bedroom or something instead of a cable box.

the annoying thing about NF is that they will actually remove stuff from the streaming queue. You would think that they would only be adding to the available titles, but no, they will take stuff away for whatever reason. The DVD selection is decent, but for the most part streaming blows.

I like the AppleTV due to having multiple iPhones and iTunes libraries in the house.. [or used to.. /bitterdivorce].

I have a PS3 and even a Windows Home Server, both of which are DLNA compliant and compatible.. and I prefer the Apple TV over them simply because I can control stuff from my phone while it's blasting upstairs.

I've got an AppleTV and it's not bad for $100 if you've got other Apple products (can send videos from ipad to AppleTV) other then that it doesn't do much. I was hoping they'd have support for HBO on the Go or Hulu so I could take it when I travel but no luck yet.

Roku and Western Digital make good devices tho and I believe the Roku can play Hulu if you sign up for Hulu Plus
