Richard Branson started a fundraising event in Europe a few years back which took a handful of charities and chose those most deserving of the funds and dispersed them accordingly. This year, an organization in Richmond has started the same thing and a charity which I volunteer for is in the running. It does not cost anything to vote and you can vote every day if you would like.

Voting will continue through September 8. The charity with the most votes, gets the highest percentage of proceeds from the campaign. There are 38 other charities listed. You can only vote for 1 charity per day and we need at least 500 votes to be in the running.

Challenge Discovery Projects is committed to improving the emotional well being and mental health of at-risk children and their families in Greater Richmond through programs that promote self-worth and positive, healthy relationships. Challenge Discovery Projects serves over 1,200 youth and adults annually through three specific programs that include Say It With Heart, a bullying and violence prevention program in Richmond City Schools, Virginia Health Center (VHC), a licensed adolescent outpatient clinic serving teens at risk of substance abuse and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community Counseling Services (DHHCCS), which provides mental health and substance abuse counseling/education for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.
