Question 2009 BMW 535i XDrive for $31,000. Worth it?

Hello all. I am new to the concept of buying a BMW, so I signed up here to get your help.

1) I am considering buying a BMW 535i XDrive 2009:

Following features:
XDrive
Premium Package
Winter Package
Sport Package
Navigation System

22k miles
$31,000

My uncle's car. He lives abroad during the winter so it has never seen snow. Always garaged. Is in perfect body and interior condition. All regular maintenance via BMW. Never any bodywork or accidents.

Is it worth 31k?
(Apparently the run flat tires will need replacing soon too)

2) Any known issues or major "watch out for ...." advice. I have heard that turbos often fail at 50k miles and need to be replaced in some cars. Is this true of BMWs?

3) This car does not have a CPO (privately arranged sale being run through the dealer to avoid luxury tax on my uncle's new car), should I be worried or consider having the dealer price out a CPO plan for me (and what is it worth)?

Don't get in a fender bender with it.

The only drawback to the 5er's pre-F10 was if you had a slight fender bender, it would cost thousands to get it fixed, due to alignments, etc.

$31K sounds like a decent deal for a 22K mile life on the chassis.

Beware since it's not under CPO warranty, if anything was ever wrong with it, it could cost you a pretty penny in the long run.

Seems like a beautiful car though.

You can get an '11 535i with 25k miles for mid 30's. It will have a warranty and is a much newer/nicer vehicle. I wouldn't do it.

Really? Where at? A quick look for your criteria on AutoTrader found no cars. Not a single 2011 or newer 535i XDrive for under $40k.

Sounds a bit high even with the low mileage. Would step up to a 2011 like stated before for maybe a grand or so more

Who uses AutoTrader? Check Cars.com

There are a handful under $35k, and dozens under $40k. Also, I did say 535i, not xdrive but anyways...

I really appreciate all your help.

So the final offer is: $31,900 which INCLUDES CPO Warranty as we are arranging this through a dealer with new all weather run flat tires included.

The CPO would expire June 2015 (or 100k, but that would be a lot of driving).

So, 31,900 for a loaded 2009 535i XDrive with CPO Warranty. Is this worth it?

Looking to move on this within the next couple of days. Thank you.

NO. Look at Cars.com because for $4k more you can get a 2011 with the new body style.
