Addition of a Engine/Drivetrain Section?

Yay or Nay?

I think this section is missing in terms of a Technical Forum.

This will grow really important as the months pass and people create all sorts of crazy thing for the drivetrain.

Not yet...

People still post everything in the main section even though other sections exist. The "sub" forums don't get as much traffic and more and more sections just make the moderators work more difficult!! I think we should leave it for now...

Then it would be the biggest mistake this board could make.

I dont see anyone here with much forum experience, I own the largest BlackBerry Related board on the planet. www.blackberryforums.com

With a 25,000 userbase, I speak from experience.

I have plenty of threads, that I would like to post in such a section, however since there is no section of its kind, I refuse to post them in the main section to have them dissapear before its read.

To all - feel free to chime in and vote. I'd like to know what the consensus is... it would most likely be a technical "Under the Hood / Drivetrain" forum.

Thanks.

I think it is a good idea to have such sub section

but the administrators will need to put a lot of effort to move posts to their relevant section. For me at least, this General chat is usually where I come in and check for new posts. Going through all sub sections for casual checking is too much trouble sometimes (similar to navigating to a location in a website through 10+ clicks)

but i am all for making sub-sections for specific topics.

I think it is good idea. I don't have my E90 yet and still realatively new with the fellow E90 owners. Based on my observations, most owners probaly stay away tinker the BMW themselves. It seems everyone likes to detail their car or adding new rims and tires. I could be wrong.

I don't like to washing car let alone waxing. But I like getting greasy. Currently rebuilding my 325E engine and suspension and whole nine yard. , I would like to see the Tech section on the board in a timely manner.

i rarely read the other sections, so for me, the main chat is the section that i post my comments.

not sure about a new section. depends on traffic conditions (no pun intended).

perhaps leave it in the main section for now and if the threads move too quickly the move them to a new section.

just look at how many posts are moved from the main chat section to their relevant sections. must say something about where most people go to first.

i understand what you are saying but posts "dissapear" quickly if there isnt interest in replying to them. as long as the thread is topical, it will remain on the first page for long enough. it really doesnt dissapear as you know, just look for it on page 2 or 3 etc.

but i know that you have in all probability the most experience in discussion boards and perhaps we should take your advice on board (ouch, sad pun - sorry)

i suppose it could always be change
afterwards if it didn't work out as intended.

thanks for your post - now im confused. im gonna go and drive my car now. speak to you all later.
