Video/Audio DSLR Help
Hey guys,
I've decided to use my 7D for filming some of my comedy skits but need a good mic. I've read a lot about the different types of mics but honestly I'm trying to shorten my turn around time and just want/need a shotgun directional mic. I've kinda settled on the rode but have been reading that the agc is a total pain. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I use the Rode video mic. Pretty good quality no complaints here.
You can also get a zoom and record the entire thing and use pluraleyes in Final Cut Pro to sync it up. |

the agc shouldn't be much of a problem if you're just doing comedy skits in front of the camera.

Give the Rode video mic a shot. A lot of people like to run that setup. As rodi stated, it's probably a good enough set up for filming comedy skits.
I currently shoot with a Zoom H4n with a Rode NTG-2 microphone and Rode D Power Plug. It's a bit much for run-and-gun, but I'm pretty happy with the results for the price. I still have to clean up my audio in Soundtrack Pro though. |
